Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacy Manager, the Technician Supervisor dication Reconciliation follows established policies and procedures to perform technical, clinical, and administrative services that are integral to the operation of the pharmacy department and its medication reconciliation services. In addition to obtaining medication histories, the Supervisor is responsible for training technicians and students, ensuring competency of the team, improving workflow and processes, and aligning our medication reconciliation services with the priorities of Boston Medical Center. This technician will be expected to provide exemplary service to other internal customers at BMC, as well as embody BMCalues in all interactions with patients and colleagues. This position will rotate through days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Obtains medication histories on all assigned patients during scheduled shifts
- Communicates medication-related issues to all appropriate health care professionals
- Writes formal notes in the electronic medical record where appropriate documenting the findings of the medication history
- Trains Medication Reconciliation Technicians and students
- Supervises the workflow of other medication reconciliation technicians
- Develops the monthly schedule, approves vacation requests, and approves requests to switch shifts
- Approves employee timecards each week
- Coaches team members and addresses any disciplinary issues
- Writes annual performance reviews and performs monthly leader rounds
- Sets annual performance-based goals for each team member
- Identifies and implements improvements in workflow processes
- Provides exemplary customer service to Boston Medical Center staff and patients
- Delivers exceptional care to patients with empathy and respect
- Maintains the confidentiality of all designated hospital and patient information at all times.
