Responsibilities - Assist in all medical and health related situations in the Hotel and Accommodation
- Provide accurate advice and help for all colleagues in health and sickness situations
- Answer patients' questions and determine how to assist them
- Assess and record patient symptoms, vital signs, medical information and changes in condition and make physician referrals if necessary
- Recommend and implement patient care plans and interventions based on assessment of patient conditions
- Provide basic patient care and treatments, such as taking temperatures/blood pressures, cleaning and dressing wounds, etc.
- Administer emergency treatment for injuries and illnesses, and arrange further medical care if necessary
- Administer medications or start intravenous fluids and note times and amounts on patients' charts
- Escort colleagues and/or guests to hospital visits and treatments when necessary
- Record, store, and maintain in written or electronic form guests' assessment and counselling information
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in discussions with internal /external customers
- Maintain current/up to date (online and/or manual) records and accurate filing of medical related issues
- Provide accurate, well presented documentation, statistics and reports within the agreed deadlines
- Provide administrative services for the medical health plan and maintains up to date records for the medical health plan
- Enrol colleagues into medical health plans as required and administers eligibility periods and notifications for enrolments
- Administer and track work related injury claims
- Conduct monthly audits of enrolments, waivers, terminations to ensure invoice accuracy
- Ensure that all health-related legislation and processes are continuously and accurately adhered to in the Hotel (e.g. mandatory Health Certificates, physical/medical exams, vaccination, etc.)
- Coordinate medical examinations for colleague visas and Food Handlers cards as per government and municipality regulations
- Submit invoices promptly to ensure no additional finance charges are incurred
- Responsible for the reimbursements of all hospital and medical visits of colleagues
- Ensure that clinic as well as First Aid boxes at the Hotel and at the Accommodation are maintained, in proper working order and fully stocked with appropriate supplies and medications for effective nursing care as per the Dubai Municipality regulations
- Monitor colleagues who are on sick leave and ensure that the appropriate payroll information is entered and advise Managers on colleagues' return to work status
- Provide return to work opportunities for colleague/s with work related injuries and implements strategies for reducing work related incidents/accidents
- Counsel colleagues and make referrals to the colleague assistance programme when required
- Work as an advisor to the Health and Safety Committee, assist with the initiatives and ensure compliance with the Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Health and Safety Audit
- Ensure that a sufficient and updated list of First Aiders is present in each department at any given time
- Liaise with clinics, physicians and hospitals to obtain updated medical information for colleagues
- Monitor any health and safety risk factors in the property
- Inform Hotel and colleagues of any health problems (infectious disease outbreak) to minimize or eliminate potential illness risks
- Assist Human Resources with all colleague engagement, health and wellness, colleague welfare programs/ initiatives (e.g. First Aid training, Health Talks, etc.)
- Work with Human Resources in maintaining Colleague Cafeteria, kitchens, locker, changing rooms etc. to ensure that our team complies with health and safety regulations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of professional area, seek additional information when presented with unfamiliar situations; participate in ongoing professional development
Skills & Qualifications - Degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Registered and competent Nurse with all relevant clinical knowledge, qualifications & skills in emergency and healthcare
- Valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) professional nursing license
- Proven knowledge in Dubai Health Authority and Dubai Municipality Health Services regulations and processes
- Previous hotel or related industry experience
- Outstanding communication skills, both written & verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher etc.) programmes
- Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to juggle many tasks simultaneously in a busy work environment.
- Kind and compassionate individual that totally embraces the philosophy of guest and customer service
- Admirable counselling skills, able to provide emotional and mental comfort to ailing guests and/or colleagues
- Alert, observant, with solid critical thinking skills to be able to judge stressful situations and take appropriate decisions
