The Challenge The objective of Mubadala’ s Platform finance teams is to provide senior leadership with an effective performance management platform for timely reporting, financial plans, budgets and forecasts. This is achieved through working with asset finance teams to gather financial data, and supports evaluation of key financial decisions, evaluate and refine budgets and provide business valuations.
The major job function is the preparation, analysis and management of periodic financial and statutory reports at platform level. This is a great opportunity to work in partnership with some of our most strategic Asset companies within the Petroleum & Petrochemicals platform and support the team to drive initiatives and business strategies.
Key Responsibilities Statutory reporting
- Controller tasks such as Month-end, Quarter-end and Year-end close of books of accounts
- Reviewing financial statements uploaded in Hyperion by investees
- Reviewing monthly statutory JVs and accruals
- Contribution to the preparation of the Group’s consolidated financial statements through preparing quarterly notes to financial statements
- Consolidation of accounts, Inter-company reconciliation and mismatch resolution
- Resolution of financial accounting and other reporting issues as they arise through the application of IFRS
- Facilitating audit on a quarterly basis
- Participating in putting recommendation to address specific areas of an investees financial governance
- Documenting, improving, and maintaining internal financial controls, processes and procedures
- Ad-hoc projects and requests
Management Reporting & Analysis
- Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of P&L, Cash & Funding and Balance Sheet reporting and commentary under strict deadlines
- Working with the asset manager and the investee on developing mid-year and YE forecast and updating it on a monthly basis in Hyperion/Excel and Power Point presentation
- Preparing of the monthly Senior Executive Report (SER) that combines both financial and operational information and analysis related to the investees
- Developing, updating and maintaining a quantifiable Risks & Ops register related to the investees and projects assigned to him / her
- Providing insightful analysis on key assets’ performance for YTD and YE forecasted results, with linking financial performance to the operational story that drives the numbers
- Developing and maintaining reporting timetables, templates, analysis tools
- Assisting in the preparation and coordination of various requests by stakeholders (GSEC, DOF, ADAA, and EC)
- Developing and giving presentations that synthesize a large amount of information into a concise format while confidently responding to all questions

Financial Planning and Budgeting
- Preparing the detailed annual budget and the 5 year business plan for the assigned investees and projects to him / her
- Ability to challenge and analyze future performance and Plan-on-Plan and recommend actions to the management
- Inputting the business plan data into the Hyperion Planning system
- Preparing the Platform Business Plan Decks to be presented to the Platform CFO, Business Unit (BU) Directors and Business Unit CEO
- Assisting in the preparation of the annual submission to GSEC
- Ad-hoc projects and requests
Valuations
- Performing the different valuations twice a year of the Assets within the Platform
- Estimate the appropriate discount rate(s) / WACC for the different companies in the portfolio using the relevant databases
- Retrieve and interpret Comparable (Comps) information for companies in the portfolio using the relevant databases
- Identifying key value creators / destructors along with their impact on the overall valuation
- Preparing the detailed valuation deck to be presentation to the Platform CFO, BU Directors and the Business Unit CEO

People and relationship management
- Supervise the activities and work performed by direct reports to ensure that all work is carried out in an efficient and effective manner, in line with the annual business plans, and functional policies and procedures.
- Oversee and manage the coordination and contact with external stakeholders (auditors, regulatory bodies etc.) to understand statutory reporting requirements and to provide regulatory-compliant disclosures as required.
- Partner with Platform Finance teams to identify, investigate and resolve reporting issues in order to assure the accuracy and integrity of group-wide statutory and managements reports, and business plans
- Provide expert technical advice and support to Platform Finance and investee companies to ensure robust consolidation and compliant accounting treatment, achievable but challenging business plans and in-depth analysis in management reports
Qualifications Knowledge, skills and experience - Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting or Equivalent
- Preferably qualified or part qualified, CA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 - 4 years of financial work experience including developing statutory reporting, forecasts, budgets
- Good analytical skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, Ability to see the “big picture” while providing in depth analysis
- Good level of understanding of financial reporting, statutory reporting, and IFRS
- Experience working in global business environment with sound understanding of global process and best practices (fast-paced blue-chip multinational or large regional organization or a Big Four firm in their audit and assurance department)
- Adaptable, flexible and ability to cope with unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations
- Advanced Excel knowledge in data compilation and aggregation (e.g. pivot tables, lookups, and macros).
- Advanced power point presentation skills.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines & manage multiple deliverables
