Service Supervisor III, Housing (2 Positions)

The University of Tennessee is a residential campus with 12 residence halls and apartment facilities with the ability to accommodate over 7200. The Service Supervisor III position provides guidance, training, and supervision for a work group (7-17) of Service Aide Is and temporary seasonal employees (5-20). The position also assist with the hiring process of these various work groups. The work groups provide various custodial services, minor maintenance functions, event coordination functions, and perform other services designed to maintain all University Housing facilities in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition.
Provides direction and supervision for a work group on Services Aide Is and temporary seasonal employees, assists with the hiring process, and conducts daily quality control inspections of assigned areas to ensure completion of work assignments and adherence to quality standards.
Trains, motivates and provides guidance to a work group performing non-technical duties requiring physical exertion and a basic knowledge of techniques, tools, equipment and safety precautions.
Participates in the cleaning and servicing of assigned areas within residence halls to include but not limited to: sweeping, mopping and waxing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpets and rugs; washing windows, walls, and other assigned areas; cleaning/disinfecting restrooms and offices; refuse removal; collection of recyclable materials; sanitizing trash containers as necessary to meet health department guidelines; all facets of hard surface floor care. Conduct daily inspection of exterior grounds and directing clean-up of these areas.
Special event room/facility set-up and take down. Move, remove and reconfigure furnishings in meeting spaces and lounges to accommodate the needs of special groups and events. Provide clean-up services during and after scheduled events.
Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED
Completion of CMI/CCP Basic and Advanced Certifications
Experience: 3-5 years experience in a custodial services operation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to supervise/lead a diverse work team.
Ability to effectively operate custodial equipment and tools.
Possess a thorough knowledge of industry standard custodial practices and methods.
Ability to work within tight deadlines and schedules.
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to multi-task.
