Supervisor - Maintenance, Plastics - Brownwood, TX
Opportunity Kohler Company in Brownwood, TX is currently seeking experienced and knowledgeable applicants for the position of Supervisor - Maintenance for our Plastics division. The position is responsible for supervising directly, and through subordinate employees, the formulation and implementation of maintenance schedules and procedures relative to routine and preventive maintenance, and provides production departments with required general service assistance. The position also provides routine and preventive maintenance at lowest cost, and emergency repairs with minimum downtime.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Plans and revises maintenance schedules or procedures to provide the production departments with proper maintenance at lowest cost, with minimum downtime, consistent with good maintenance practices.
- Develops preventive maintenance procedures on equipment.
- Performs detail planning for annual plant shutdowns and major equipment overhauls to insure efficient use of manpower and equipment.
- Insures that equipment records are kept up-to-date.
- Periodically reviews storeroom items and maintenance materials to insure the proper
inventory levels are maintained. * Conducts daily random inspections of maintenance projects.
- Insures that operating records necessary to control and analyze activities of the units are
maintained. * Directs the activities of subordinate supervisory personnel and insures that their duties
and responsibilities are clearly defined and communicated to them. * Insures that all subordinate personnel are kept fully and currently informed so all-pertinent
company policies, and that such policies are followed. * Assists in formulation of department operating objectives that support plant and division
objectives. * Participates in development of budgets and forecasts of material and labor requirements and other operating plans and forecasts.
- Promotes harmonious working relationships among employees; encourages proper
communications and cooperation between members of management and between
management and employees. * Assists in development and implementation of training programs.
- Assists in development of safety rules and practices and insures that these rules and practices are followed.
- Receives and processes employee complaints in accordance with the prescribed procedure for handling complaints.
- Reviews and appraises qualifications and work performance of subordinates as prescribed by the Personnel Manager and/or Plastics Superintendent.
- Recommends to the General Supervisor - Plastics, the employment, promotion, dismissal or change in compensation of immediate subordinates.
- Approves department requisitions for equipment, supplies, services, or other expenditures, and recommends to the General Supervisor - Plastics amounts in excess of authorized limits.
Skills/Requirements - Minimum high school graduate with additional technical training or college desirable.
- Five-(5) years maintenance supervisory experience in an industrial plant is desirable.
- Experience should include familiarization with maintenance related activities and functions including planning, scheduling, equipment repair work, costing and repair parts operations.
- Good oral and written communication skills are a must.
