PRIMARY FUNCTION: The supervisor, bioanalysis is responsible for coordinating the full spectrum of operations related to the bioanalytical portion of projects in order to meet the expectations of internal and external clients, and for mobilizing and guiding team members.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: - Plan, organize, manage and monitor the work unitctivities/operations according to the field of expertise, the workplan, and the needs of the division and/or the organization in order to achieve the expected results. * Prepare, revise and/or approve all documentation related to the assigned projects. * Manage the assigned resources of projects to ensure client timelines are met. * Provide technical expertise to the laboratory staff. * Daily interaction with the technical/scientific team and the management to establish priorities of assignments. * Can be called upon to act as Study Director, in accordance with the OECD's Principles of Good Laboratory Practices. * Communicate the necessary information in order to keep the team and the organization abreast of the work unitorkplan, projects, processes, results, and actions and recommendations taken to meet arising needs. * Advise internal/external clients of the divisionarticular areas of expertise by assessing needs and carrying out analysis and follow-up. * Represent the work unit, both internally and externally, as a source for consultation and/or information and/or reference * Ensure the training is available for team members. * Can be called upon to help develop the work unitudget, ensure that it is being adhered to, perform budget follow-up for pertinent stakeholders and recommend actions in an effort to achieve the expected results. * Can be called upon to manage human capital including workforce planning and hiring activities, performance management and daily monitoring of productivity; facilitate knowledge development and transfer; and ensure the efficiency and mobilization of the team in order to achieve the expected results. * Help develop and analyze the work uniterformance indicator systems according to established objectives. Identify opportunities to improve the departmentorkplan and processes. Determine, as needed, the necessary actions in order to improve efficiency.
Qualifications SUPERVISORY / MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise, coach, and mentor staff. * Oversee development of direct reports by setting goals, conducting performance reviews, evaluating and monitoring training needs, creating development plans, mentoring, and coaching. * Set priorities and schedule activities of departmental resources, implement company objectives, and create alternative solutions to address business and operational challenges.
EDUCATION REQUIRED: Position in US * Bachelor Degree in Science. Relative alternate certification may be considered acceptable. This determination ensures the jobholder has sufficient technical ability to perform the role.
MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Five to 8 years of relevant work experience would be considered an asset. * Must demonstrate good computer skills especially in the utilization of Microsoft Word, Excel and analytical software. * Experience in regulatory context will be considered an asset. * Experience managing technical staff. * Experience in bioanalytical laboratory work. * Excellent communications, presentation, interpersonal skills, both written and spoken, with an ability to inform, influence, convince, and persuade. * Demonstrate scientific problem solving skills.
