Job Title Supervisor Skilled Trades - Manufacturing

Job Description Purpose and Function:
Leads a crew(s) of skilled trade personnel in an area of the manufacturing organization with responsibility for fabrication and/or assembly of product for the construction of ships for the delivery to both commercial and military customers. Manages assigned crew(s) to attain quality, schedule and cost objectives. Reviews and understands department, organization, and company goals and objectives and supports execution plans that ensure positive predictable results.
Major Responsibility (Functions/Duties):
- Safety and Security -- Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
- Implements organization policies and goals.
- Measures performance to budget and supports Production Manager/Production Planning in budget analysis and budget adherence
- Assists in production control project plan and manages to plan
- Manages work-pack work in accordance with production control plan to meet program schedule
- Plans overtime and schedules resources as required to meet program schedules
- Ensures manufacturing trade areas of responsibility are assigned to business requirements
- Reviews, recommends and plans implementation of new processes and procedures
- Maintains a commitment to the company vision and the "spirit" of the organization.
- Presides over all area employee meetings.
- Reviews activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives, and recommends revisions of objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
- Interfaces with supports Production Manager/Production Planning to revise project and facility objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
- Communicates clearly and directly with employees concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability.
- Develops employees for future advancement when possible.
Communication:
Internally:
Communicates with Production Manager, General Supervisor, Production Planning, employees, contractors, and on-site customer personnel. Frequent communication with peer-level and sub-level management personnel and general workforce. Provides status reports to immediate management and program management as required.
Externally:
Coordinates with regulatory agencies and customer representatives for compliance with requirements. Work directly with system suppliers and their delivery teams as required. Interface and work with partner personnel on teaming contracts.
Supervision:
- Manages subordinate trade(s) employees
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include:

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree or 4 years supervisory experience or 8 plus years of trade experience with evidence of leadership skills. Good verbal and written communications skills. Computer skills including familiarity with MS Office. Ability to instruct assigned personnel on processes, policies and procedures.
