Job Overview As Head of Finance for Careem Food, you will have a unique opportunity to design, build, and run the finance function across all cities Careem Food operates in across our footprint. Food delivery is one of our newest businesses therefore you will be expected to play a critical role in building and mentoring the team, recording transactions, improving business performance and ensuring our compliance.
Reporting : This role reports into the VP - Strategic Finance and working in close consultation with the basecamp finance team, the candidate will provide financial support to the General Managers and Managing Director to ensure we achieve our aggressive growth targets in this new business.
Responsibilities Accounting
- Maintain accurate transaction recording process and GL maintenance.
- Review the reconciliations of payments, verification, bank statements, and transfers.
- Supervise/Process payroll for all cities, and resolve vendor disputes.
- Managing cash flow and petty cash reports for all cities.
Reporting
- Develop and maintain timely and accurate transaction processes
- Execute and review reconciliations of payments, bank statements, and transfers.
- Supervise/Process payroll and statutory deductions for all cities.
- Manage cash flow and petty cash reports for all cities.
- Identify and prevent Fraud and leakage across all transactions including procurement
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Support continuous improvement of current budgeting, forecasting and planning process and
- deliverables
- Assist in the development of scorecards, measurement tools and KPIs
- Monitor performance, highlight trends and analyze drivers of variances
Transaction Processing
- Design, document, manage and optimize the organization and execution of the end-to-end
- payment and reconciliation processes across the globe, in line with business strategies.
- Drive team strategies on the achievement of quality, accuracy and timely delivery of services
- in accordance to defined SLAs/KPIs
- Work with procurement team, GL (vendor master maintenance) team and finance teams to
- streamline P2P processes
Compliance and Legal
- Develop local compliance policies and ensure compliance with Group controls and policies
- Map and fulfill local statutory reporting, withholding and tax obligations
- Coordinate and complete annual audits and tax filing in a timely manner.
- Manage legal notices and support business teams with applicability of relevant laws to the
- company
- Fraud identification and prevention.
- Banking
- Manage banking relationships, cash management solutions.
Team
- Build and develop the finance team.
- Supervise and oversee the daily operations of the local finance team.
- Monitor the workload and prioritize tasks for the team.
Qualifications/Skills required
- CA, CMA or equivalent
- 7-9 years of PQE
- Experience building function from scratch and managing regional teams
- Significant functional expertise, and credible leadership experience, playing both operational
- and strategic roles in the finance arena. Investment banking or private equity experience a
- plus
- Deep background and experience in A/R, A/P, Accounting, FP&A, Tax and Procurement
- Strong planning and budgeting experience
- Strong Accountancy experience, good analytical skills and good understanding and working
- knowledge of book keeping
- Experience in financial reporting and month-end, including preparation and posting of journals
- and updating reconciliations
- Adept at complex stakeholder management
