PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATIONSHIPS:
Responsible for answering questions and assisting the Segments with Customs and Trade matters, to ensure a high standard of compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Together with the appropriate NOV Business Segment compliance teams, is responsible for ensuring operational compliance with Customs and Trade related policies and procedures. Specific responsibilities include:
Imports
- Assist Segment Compliance teams with the implementation of Customs Compliance policies and procedures.
- Oversee the services of Customs Brokers.
- Perform post-entry audits of customs entries.
- Resolve issues arising from a customs transaction, in conjunction with Segment Compliance and Segment management, as appropriate.
- Participate in and/or conduct training on NOV Compliance procedures and Customs requirements, with assistance from Segments.
- Remain current on relevant customs laws and regulations, with respect to the products imported by local NOV operations and NOV policies and procedures related to the import process.
- Act as a liaison with NOV Corporate Compliance on all Customs Compliance issues.
Exports
- Assist Segment Compliance teams with the implementation of Trade Compliance policies and procedures.
- Act as a liaison with NOV Trade Compliance Attorneys on all Trade Compliance issues.
- Ensure recordkeeping requirements are satisfied.
- As necessary, communicate with other groups including Purchasing, Customer Service, Order Management, Engineering, Receiving, and Accounting regarding Trade Compliance transactions.
- Resolve issues arising from Trade Compliance transactions, in conjunction with Trade Compliance Attorneys and Segment Compliance as appropriate.
- Participate in and/or conduct training on NOV Trade Compliance procedures, in conjunction with Trade Compliance Attorneys.
- Remain current on relevant Trade Compliance related laws and regulations, and in particular with NOV policies and procedures related to the Trade Compliance transactions.
Qualifications: Qualifications - Preference given to candidates with working knowledge of UAE import/export regulations regarding controlled dual use items.
- Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Fluency in Arabic or other regionally relevant language preferred.
- Bachelor's degree plus 3 - 5 years Trade and Customs Compliance experience.
- HS classification experience and knowledge of regional customs regulations.
