We are looking for a working supervisor who can not only ensure that our general accounting and financial operations are efficiently run, but who has the ability to suggest, develop and implement process and organizational improvement strategies across the accounting function.
The ideal candidate will be able to easily flex between a hands-on approach with his/her team to support the day-to-day operations and a strategic partnership approach with the leadership team, all to ensure that our organization remains a viable entity for the benefit of the community and our 200+ dedicated employees.
Reporting to the CFO/COO, the Accounting Supervisor will be a key member of the management team of San Diego Theatres.
Responsibilities include: - Management of the day-to-day accounting and financial function
- Oversees the processing of bi-weekly payroll
- Preparation of various ad hoc, monthly, quarterly and annual reports
- Timely close of the month, including posting and reporting of event revenues, expenses and pass-through billings
- Preparation and recording of all revenue, expense and balance sheet transactions, including cash deposits, bills and related transactions
- Preparation and of annual budget and monthly variance reporting
- Accounts receivable, payable and the general ledger
- Balance Sheet accounting and reconciliation including monthly bank reconciliation
- Auditing of cash vault, petty cash boxes, inventory and sales receipts
- Preparation of Sales & Use tax reports, annual 1099s, Form 990 and all other tax reporting requirements
- Mentors, trains and develops accounting staff; delegates work
- Coordinates fiscal year-end financial statement audit
Requirements - Bachelor`s Degree in Accounting
- Five (5) years increasingly responsible accounting and fiscal management experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Not-for-profit experience strongly preferred
- Significant experience with QuickBooks Enterprise/Pro and Paychex Payroll systems a plus.
- High level of proficiency in Excel
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present information in a concise manner
