Job Description Department: Transportation
REPORTS TO: COO/General Manager
PURPOSE: As a Transportation Supervisor, you will be responsible for a wide variety of duties for our transportation department to ensure ample coverage of transportation services for our organization.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:
1. Work with sales, customer service, and shippers in order to coordinate and schedule all waste P/Und deliveries.
2. Schedule drivers and subcontractors for complete coverage of waste P/U and deliveries.
3. Create weekly schedules for drivers for P/Und Deliveries.
4. Day to day tracking of the fleet to ensure coverage on all shipments.
5. Work with all plants, facilities & customer service to coordinate & maintain inbound plant schedule for all shipments into Clean Earth Facilities by company drivers, Subcontractors, and 3rd parties.
6. Issue purchase order numbers for subcontractors and maintenance and repairs and send to COO for approval
7. Supply Sales and customer service with timely quotations & rates on new lanes and opportunities.
8. Ensure that any accidents, property damage, or equipment damage is written up documented and communicated to the GM and EH&S team immediately.
9. Assist in compiling information for the drivers Annual Reviewp class="title_p"> 10. Ensure that all day to day operations by the drivers follow company policies and procedures.
11. Review best shipping practices on an ongoing basis to evaluate the use of 3rd party transporters in an effort to reduce costs.
12. Develop and assist with all 10-day shipments across all locations.
Qualifications JOB REQUIREMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. High School diploma or GED equivalent.
2. College degree in logistics preferred.
3. Previous Supervisory role and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in dispatching, logistics & managing Drivers schedules.
4. Hazmat training.
5. Knowledge of DOT shipping regulations, manifests & Driver logs.
6. Strong computer skills including but not limited to Word, Excel, Core, Internet skills, Mile maker, Routing software, tracking software.
7. Ability to multi task and operate in a fast paced environment.
8. Strong communication and leadership skills
9. Positive attitude and maintain positive moral.
10. Safety first mentality.
