The Sterile Processing Supervisor plans and directs the cleaning, sterilization, and processing of surgical instrument trays and the surgical case cart system for Surgical Services, multiple procedure suites, and outlying patient care areas. The Supervisor oversees all the sterile processing staff. The Supervisor is a leader of the sterile processing team who performs a variety of tasks and activities to meet the hospitaleeds consistent with the scope of practice for an unlicensed practitioner. The Supervisor manages multiple demands on his/her time to support the activities of the Surgical Services staff, meet the needs of the areas served, assist with decontamination of supplies and instruments, prepare packs for and completing sterilization of supplies and instruments, stocking/supplies, and supervises staffork to ensure the department meets sterilization standards and is compliant at all times.
Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High School Graduate or equivalent. Associate Degree or equivalent experience related to Sterile Processing Department or Surgical Services.
3 to 5 yearsperience as a Sterile Processing Technician or Surgical Technologist.
Knowledge of sterile technique and operating room procedures and equipment.
Currently certified by IAHCSMM or CBSPD.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 3 to 5 years of progressive supervisory experience in decontamination, sterilization and processing of surgical trays, carts and equipment in an acute care, ambulatory surgical setting or related surgical operations.
