Candidate Specification MINIMUM EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENT:
It is expected that you will have previous experience in Consultancy or local government and be a confident communicator with an excellent technical background in hydrology. It would suit a well-rounded ambitious individual, ideally with experience of delivering international hydrological assessments for hydropower projects. You must be articulate and have excellent written English skills, as well as being willing to input independent thought and analysis into your work. You should be able to demonstrate excellent organisational, time-management and communication skills as well as being detail-oriented.
Although the post is essentially concerned with hydrology, an ability to work in the hydraulic modelling and flood risk management disciplines would be an advantage. You need to work independently as well as being part of a team, and be prepared to take a lead developing future business with Clients.
- A Bachelors qualification in hydrology or a relevant discipline
- Minimum of 6 years post graduate experience
- Experience delivering international hydrological studies and projects
- Able to demonstrate a high level of technical / academic ability within a fast moving consultancy environment
- Able to take a leading role delivering hydrological assessments and be enthusiastic about developing and guiding more junior staff
- Practical field hydrology experience with a specific interest in innovation and new technologies
- Self-motivated and outward facing with excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management skills, setting priorities, planning and organising
- Proactively seeking to enhance personal and professional development

DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- A Masters qualification in hydrology or a relevant discipline
- Hold Chartership with a recognised organisation
- Delivery of hydrological assessments for hydropower projects
- Delivery of hydrological assessments in South East Asia
- Experience in the application of GIS
- Experience in hydraulic modelling
- Experience in water quality modelling and analysis
- Experience in hydrogeology
Job Description This exciting opportunity will allow you to leverage your hydrology skills to provide innovative solutions and facilitate decision making in a varied project based working environment. Though the work will primarily be office based, you must be willing to travel within the South East Asia region and work in remote locations for short periods.
Key elements of the role include:
- Water resources availability assessment and analysis, incorporating consideration of climate change impacts
- Hydrological (rainfall-runoff) modeling and analysis
- Flood hydrological assessment and analysis
- Advise on, specify and implement hydro-meteorological field monitoring campaigns
- Present analysis and write project reports for technical and non-technical groups
- Provide advice to project managers, engineers and environmental specialists in relation to hydrology, including developing proposals and delivering projects
- Communicate with people outside Mott MacDonald, representing the company to customers, the public, government and other external organisations
- Actively participate in Mott MacDonald's worldwide water community through involvement with our practice sites
- Assess the sector for new developments within hydrology to keep Mott MacDonald moving forward
