Job Description: Position is a Subject Matter Expert providing key input to other organizations and stakeholders. Candidate will be a Professional electrical engineer with extensive experience in data center electrical engineering, design, construction and operations. Candidate will manage, review and coordinate the delivery of complex data center electrical systems, power distribution systems and backup power systems. Candidate will be responsible for managing our hired consultants making sure they engineer and design to our Microsoft standards. Candidate will also work on the technical review and analysis of the lease and colocation data center from external providers for compliance with Microsoft requirements.
Key responsibilities: Degree qualified electrical engineering position that will help senior level electrical engineers deliver data center electrical and electrical power monitoring system designs for the MS cloud. Candidate will support engineering and design efforts for power systems, electrical load calcs, electrical equipment selection, electrical single lines and power monitoring.
Review and coordinate the delivery of complex data center electrical power distribution and backup power generation systems. Candidate will also work on the technical review and analysis of leasing data centers and colocation space from external providers for compliance with Microsoft requirements. The position will require some travel to sites for “Factory Witness Testing”, vendor interaction with engineering consultants and equipment suppliers and electrical commissioning support

Knowledge, experience and skills: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and maintain high quality standards.
- Good technical and practical working knowledge with respect to the understanding and applications of uninterruptible power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, and automatic/static transfer switches.
- Good technical and practical working knowledge with respect to the understanding and applications of relays, protection schemes, high-voltage distribution system, power and distribution transformers, earthing and switching.
- Familiarity with approved code compliant Electrical design software for Short Circuit, Coordination Study, MV/LV Cable Sizing, Power Quality and Lighting.
- Basic knowledge of building codes and regulations.
- Ability to present using the MS office suite; MS word, MS excel and MS PowerPoint.
- Good appreciation of Project Management standard practices and tools for tracking issues and scheduling.
