Datacenter Design Manager will manage the engineering scope, schedule and budget for greenfield, brownfield and retrofit engineering / design projects. This position will manage internal and external resources for the delivery of the Datacenter building, power, cooling, telecom and controls infrastructure to align with Microsoft Corporation datacenter capacity roadmap. Additionally, the successful candidate will be a subject matter expert (SME) in electrical or mechanical engineering ensuring Microsoft’s datacenters meet performance requirements.
The Datacenter Design Manager (DCE DM) will be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter designs including the development of new technology and advanced concepts from pre-programming through design development, construction, and the turnover to Operations. This role will provide design management, technical direction, decision-making and overall leadership for our datacenter architectural / engineering designs. To be successful in this role the candidate will oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete Datacenter design solutions aligned with the scopes, schedules and budgets of the projects. The Design Manager will engage with key MS stakeholder groups within Microsoft as well as outside vendors who specialize in datacenter architecture and engineering. Additionally, the DCE DM will also be able to evaluate and steer electrical and/or mechanical designs to meet Microsoft’s performance and technical requirements.
Knowledge, experience and skills: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and maintain high quality standards
- Excellent knowledge of building codes and regulations
- BIM and AutoCAD experience is a preference
- Ability to prepare and present using MS office packages
Preferred, not required:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in consulting engineering
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as lead engineer or design manager
- Preference is for experience working in high critical environment projects
- Preferred location of employment is Singapore
