Position Purpose: The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing the operations of the assigned area within Dressings, Sauces & Oils (DS&O) refinery. These duties include, but are not limited to, EHS, achieving quality and food safety standards and managing costs. The Production Supervisor will have the opportunity to gain experience in management activities, such as planning and developing strategic actions to achieve short and midterm goals.
Key Responsibilities: 50% Manage daily operations: Responsible for EHS program and compliance within respective area of responsibility through the review, monitoring and follow-up on FSQR area results to ensure quality and efficiency goals are achieved. Manage department budget expenses and usage to remain within budget.
10% Develop near term strategic and tactical action plans related to the operation activities of the plant, process engineering or project engineering
10% Leadership: Build employee engagement through positive working relationships and teamwork. Coach, develop and promote an innovative and open atmosphere where employees are encouraged to collaborate and offer ideas.
10% Investigate, design, write and complete small and medium sized capital and expense jobs(typically
$500K)
10% Assist other supervisors in troubleshooting, problem solving and optimization activities outside the assigned area
5% Perform misc job-related duties as assigned
5% Coordinates maintenance activities with respect to production planning
Qualifications Minimum:
- Engineering degree
- 3 or more years of experience in industrial processing or project management or equivalency
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal functions (maintenance, sales, logistics, accounting), contractors, suppliers, auditors and customers.
- Demonstrated ability to develop employee accountability and engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to appropriately set priorities.
- Proven ability to behave in accordance with Cargill values and ethics
- Proven performance and ability to apply policies and procedures in the areas of safety, environment, health and food safety.
Preferred: - Chemical Engineering Degree
- 5 or more years of experience managing production
- Experience with Lean/Continuous Improvement activities.
- General knowledge of production management with ability to develop understanding of plant processes and operational needs
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment
