This position exists to provide supervision for housekeeping staff under the direction of the department manager. The incumbent is responsible for task delegation and monitoring of housekeeping operations within assigned areas in an effort to ensure that the service quality meets established department standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PEOPLE - 10% * Provides scheduling and staff assignment recommendations to management for approval. Manages coverage for unanticipated absences. Coordinates work to allow staff participation in hospital/department sponsored activities.
- Assesses work performance, provides constructive feedback and training to close performance gaps, and documents performance/conduct discussions in alignment with policy guidelines.
- Plan and lead daily team briefings. Supervise team regarding production, quality and control.
- Maintains the master schedule and project planning for areas of responsibility ensuring alignment with labor productivity standards.
- Responsible for hiring, orientation, payroll verification (time & attendance system), MARS approval, performance evaluations, progressive discipline of staff
SERVICE - 35% * Submits orders for equipment and supplies according to department guidelines, and educates staff about the proper usage. Provides regular in-service training to keep staff informed about changes to equipment/supply use and process changes.
- Follows established methods to identify and respond to customer needs as it relates to the quality of service in assigned areas.
- Generally includes regular inspections of public areas, restrooms, hallways, conference rooms, elevators, stairwells and offices.
- Maintain effective client and customer rapport for mutually beneficial business relationship. Identify client needs and communicate operational progress.
- Deliver and model Methodist as foundation for excellent customer service.

QUALITY/SAFETY - 35% * Ensures that all chemicals are properly labeled and stored. Ensures that equipment is properly maintained and stored.
- Attends to daily support of staff for guidance in handling difficult and/or unique housekeeping needs. Provides frequent reminders about techniques and quality expectations.
- Follows all safety rules while on the job. Promptly responds to and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for clients, customers and employees. Comply with all applicable policies, rules and regulations, including but not limited to those relating to safety, health, and wage and hour.
- Ensure safety and sanitation standards in all operations.
- Must be abe to utilize ultra-light technology to meet hospital and infection control standards.
FINANCE - 10% * Create value through efficient operations, appropriate cost controls, and profit management.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A minimum of 2-3 years' experience managing employees in a Supervisor/Coordinator role with at least 6 months to 1 year experience in a housekeeping services role.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED - Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
- Ability to successfully manage a large team and manage interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to lead teams of varying sizes, identify goals, stay focused, and successfully reach targets

- Knowledgeable of housekeeping and building service operations
- Knowledgeable of quality improvement processes. Ability to teach others to provide service according to the quality standards of the department.
- Able to learn and use departmental and hospital software programs.
- Must be proficient with Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Must be knowledgable with Peoplesoft and LaborWorkx
