We're looking for an Android Engineer to join our growing team in Singapore. This role is a unique opportunity to join one of the and help millions more potential customers save money by using TransferWise. You'll be based in the team that owns the core product of TransferWise - international money transfers. You'll collaborate closely with our Android guild to improve the mobile platform as well as with regional teams to build the product that provides top-notch user experience for APAC region.

Your mission: - Help us build a world-class product for our Android users. From the moment they sign-up, to their first transaction, you'll give customers the kind of experience they want to tweet about!
- Design the API and services that power the app. Working closely with our Customer Support team, Analysts and Designers to figure out the best opportunities for our app and overall product
- Put our customers at the heart of everything you do, using empathy to drive your decisions
- Integrate closely with our TransferWise family: When you start, you'll need to take a 3-month long business trip to Europe. This includes onboarding in Estonia for 2 weeks, meeting the other Android guild members and working from the London office alongside them. You'll frequently travel to other TransferWise offices to solve challenges and collaborate with our different teams.

- Share your expertise and collaborate with our Android community: as part of our relatively small Android community (around 20 people) you'll share your ideas in our daily architectural discussions and take thoughts and feedback from your colleagues on how we can improve the app
- Be flexible in how and where you work, we understand everyone needs a little something different so we'll do our best to make it happen
- Travel to work with our teams in London, Budapest and Estonia
A bit about you: You're a product engineer who wants to do more than just support an existing system or pick up tickets from backlog and push code into production without considering value and impact. You want to help take TransferWise to the next level and scale our product to impact hundreds of millions more customers
We write in Kotlin, we're big fans of RxJava, Dagger2 and Google Architecture Components (MVVM, Room, Lifecycle Components etc). So we're looking for someone who:
- Has used Dagger and knows the difference between Components and Modules
- As RxJava and reactive programming is part of our everyday, knowing when to subscribe and what to observe is a must
- Has experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and has the desire to write tests
- Has knowledge of automation tools like CircleCI, Jenkins & BitRise
- Has a strong understanding of how to design and interact with RESTful APIs, plus a peepz understanding of different UI design patterns (MVVM, MVP etc).
- As we're growing fast, knowing how to write scalable code is a must.
Some extra skills that would be awesome:
- Experience with payment card or banking industry
- Experience with Kotlin
- Experience leading teams
- Experience with Grails, Groovy, Spring Boot and back-end MVC Frameworks
- You know what it means to build software that handles customers' money. You constantly think about security, risks, data integrity, and bulletproof processes.
- Blogging about technology and actively being part of Android/Mobile community
- Familiarity with iOS
- Eye for design
