Job Overview TE Connectivity's Marketing teams are responsible for broad marketing strategy and execution across all marketing and/or digital activities including integrated, digital, communications, product marketing, etc., for a business, region, country or corporate function by developing clear and compelling positioning and value propositions and go-to-market approaches for new product introductions. They are also responsible for brand portfolio management, aligning with corporate frameworks, including marketing plans for newly acquired brands and creative direction of all marketing communications, overseeing brand experience across all marketing and customer, sales and employee touch points. They develop and implement an integrated strategy for digital marketing, including the TE.com website and social media, digital advertising campaigns that lead the marketing community in accelerated adoption of emerging digital and content-centered marketing practices and lead development and delivery of best practice marketing communications by leveraging industry trends, competitive intelligence, customer insights and analysis in developing compelling marketing programs.
TE Connectivity is seeking a Senior Director of Global Marketing Operations to support the scaling and effectiveness of our global marketing programming. This role reports directly to the CMO and you will act as her right-hand person leading our Asian corporate marketing teams, global marketing excellence, and growing shared services organization. This critical role ensures the smooth operation of Marketing across TE globally. You will lead global Marketing Excellence, part of our TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) program and will work closely with the CMO and the entire Marketing organization to drive key strategic initiatives to improve performance and capabilities related to our growth objectives. China and Japan are key TE marketing centers with a range of opportunities for new customer and revenue growth and we continue to expand our reach throughout the Asia Pacific region. You directly lead those teams which encompass marketing, communications, brand, analytics, and digital professionals. Our growing shared services team, primarily based in India, will also be managed by you.
Responsibilities & Qualifications To be effective you to have proven success managing the full marketing mix, experience leading Asia-based teams, be able to operate globally, work well in matrixed organizations, and be familiar with the latest tools and tactics to target and deliver effective B2B marketing to a growing set of customers. The role is based in Shanghai or Singapore with some travel to the US and Europe.
- Lead a team of marketing professionals in China and Japan, with a goal of looking at other Asian markets to scale and grow our marketing programming. With over 30 years operating in China and 60 years in Japan, we are well-established in those markets but with many new growth opportunities both within the countries and in new, emerging markets throughout the Asia Pacific region.
- Set and evolve the strategy for Marketing service models to establish best-in-class Marketing Operations that effectively supports and scales all teams and advances the Marketing functional vision as a growth driver. This may include shared services, Centers of Excellence, vendor networks and other service models to support the entire global marketing function.
- Work closely with business unit and center marketing leaders to prioritize, develop and optimize functional capabilities tied to the Marketing vision.
- Determine the optimal structure and footprint for shared services that draws on business needs and available talent pools.
- Actively manage talent to create seamless integration between our marketing teams – one team mentality.
- Champion process and operational changes that will improve functional efficiency and effectiveness.
- Serve as functional thought leader in challenging teams in their leverage of Asian marketing approaches and marketing excellence.
- Keep marketing function accountable to goals and committed actions by coordinating measurement plans & reporting against program critical metrics.
- Act as a key interface to Digital, Product and Technology organization to build capabilities to improve Marketing performance
- Utilize customer insights, competitive intelligence and internal business plans to develop an understanding of the company’s core markets. Defining marketing strategies, drive profitable, growth-oriented marketing programs
Requirements - 15 years plus of relevant global marketing experience, with a mix of strategy, execution and project management.
- Strongly prefer candidates with strong digital marketing expertise who also come from customer & marketing-driven companies with strong cadences and processes to lead the business
- Experience scaling shared services teams preferred.
- Strong global agency management (PR, Marketing, Digital, Analytics) skills required.
- Proven Manager: Experience in leading, developing, and motivating direct and cross-functional teams. Must have led Asian-based marketing teams.
- Strong analytics background: Shown success in analytics for strong measurements and development of insights. Well versed in assessing and communicating marketing investment decisions.
- Effective communicator: A track record of presenting high priority topics to executives and peers. Able influence and align thinking across businesses and teams.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity & change: Ability to quickly recommend re-prioritization of tactics based on changing business needs or business results gaps.
- Strong bias for action: team-first, positive attitude, self-starter
- Ability to succeed in a highly matrixed organization, understand priorities, and lead multiple tracks of business
- Education, skills and experience • BA/BS degree required, MBA preferred.
