Job Summary The Production Supervisor is responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. The position receives predetermined work assignments with specific instructions. In addition the position is responsible for coaching the team members towards self-direction and continuous improvement.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Prioritizes production schedules based on material, labor, equipment, space, and procedure availability.
- Plans and administers procedures ensuring proper cross-training and coverage is in place.
- Utilizes and coaches the use of manufacturing best practices such as visual management, 5S, standard work, teamwork, continuous improvement, problem solving and lean six sigma.
- Makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
- Selects, coaches and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function and to increase the teambility to auto-direct.
- Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas.
- Directs subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
- Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules or degraded quality levels. Interacts daily with
subordinates and/or functional peer groups including engineering, planning and procurement.
- Provides immediate supervision to a unit or a group of employees, assigning tasks and checking work at frequent intervals. Delegates tasks appropriately especially to Production Leads and Zone Leads providing proper coaching.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
Education and Experience Requirements - Requires an Associates or technical school degree plus 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Bachelors Degree, preferred.
