Facebook is seeking a highly motivated team player to join the APAC Legal team as Counsel, Content Regulatory & Litigation, APAC. The role will tackle cutting-edge issues on a global scale arising from content posted by users on Facebook, Instagram, and the company's other services.
The ideal candidate will have experience working at a law firm and/or in-house legal department and will be eager to roll up their sleeves and find creative solutions to help the company manage a high volume of legal and regulatory requests across the APAC region with a quick turnaround time. This role will also support our legal and policy teams in monitoring regulatory developments, knowledge management and data analysis. This is a full-time position based in Singapore and reports to Lead Counsel based in Singapore.
RESPONSIBILITIES Advising on the intersection of local laws, cultural nuances and relevant political considerations in a wide range of diverse legal systems across APAC
Advisory and project management responsibility with respect to a large volume of legal and regulatory requests, particularly from countries within South Asia
Closely collaborating with cross functional stakeholders to coordinate and develop scalable solutions for legal and regulatory issues
Developing and deploying innovative processes to optimize and improve existing workflows, including systematization of recurring tasks and activities to optimize allocation of team resources and automating processes
Conducting a continuous and comprehensive audit of the Content Regulatory & Litigation Team's processes (regulatory request management, outside counsel management, knowledge management, data analysis, etc.) to identify areas of improvement
Conceiving, developing and executing the team's Knowledge Management strategy, including: creating precedents and standard forms, drafting, updating, managing and disseminating documents, setting up and maintaining online document systems.
Developing and maintaining an infrastructure to institutionalize a knowledge database.
Documenting and tracking developments in legislation affecting online intermediaries across APAC including cybersecurity and false news legislation
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS LLB, JD or equivalent degree and excellent academic credentials from a top law school, minimum 5 years PQE
Keen understanding of Pakistani regulatory framework and internet laws, including issues relating to online platforms and intermediary liability.
Superior written and verbal communication skills. Native or near-native verbal and written fluency in Urdu and English
Strong experience handling complex legal issues, either in-house or at a law firm, across APAC region
Experience in advising on and representing companies in significant regulatory inquiries
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and experience reviewing and organizing documents and data
Ability to manage several simultaneous projects under deadline pressure
Ability to exercise good judgment and provide practical solutions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Passion for process optimization and knowledge management
Online content related experience preferred but not required
