Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Supports and complies with all safety, health, and environmental procedures directed by local and corporate personnel and safety departments.
- Supports and complies with all process safety management and risk management plan practices.
- Ensure operation meets or exceeds all safety procedures and standards.
- Supports operation permit reporting and monitoring requirements, in compliance with company, federal, state and local rules and regulations.
- Supports and participates in when needed the GMR process for the facility including;
o Master Mixture / Cylinder Approval Process with the Airgas Technical Team
o Maintaining compliance to the Airgas Specialty Gas Production Work Instructions for Fuel-Oxidizer Mixtures
o Set up of Master cylinder in ERP system
o Defining and auditing trans fill sub assembly fill pressures in ERP system
- Trains and develops assigned personnel. Responsible for conducting timely and quality performance appraisals of assigned personnel.
- Provides technical support for plant production as required.
- Makes report of lab status and capability as it relates to the role to the Filling Department Production Manager.
- May perform special tasks as requested by Plant Management and Corporate officials.
- Report progress to strategic leadership, project team and other stakeholders across the business and wider environment
- Engage, influence and negotiate with managers to ensure time, budget and key deliverables are met
- To act as an internal consultant providing project and process improvement expertise
- Quality is integral and is enforced as a part of every job function. The established Quality System must be followed and any deficiency reported through the operational managers.
- Performs analyses of compressed gas products, utilizing FTIR, GCFID/TCD/PFPD, electrochemical cell and other analytical methods
- Assists in establishing the priorities and organization of work within the department
- Responsible for accurate evaluation, interpretation, verification , and documentation of data
- Ensures accepted product meets specified tolerances
- Participate in investigation of out of specification results (troubleshooting, root cause analysis)
- Complies with all standard operating procedures, quality, and ISO9001 & ISO17025 requirements
- Leads the training of department personnel
- Complies with corporate and governmental regulations
- Initiates and participates in continuous laboratory improvement activities
- Operates and maintains analytical equipment, sampling equipment including regulators, fittings and tubing
- Performs troubleshooting on malfunctioning analytical equipment
- Participates in method development and new method/instrument validation
- Ensures work area is properly maintained including housekeeping
Knowledge and Skills / General Requirements
- Minimum Associates Degree required. BS/BA degree preferred; chemistry discipline preferred
- Industrial gas experience preferred
- Experience in performing chemical analyses, with such methods as GC, FTIR, IR, or other methods. Minimum of 2 years experience preferred
- Understanding of chemical compounds, production methods, handling of specialty gases and calibration techniques
- Analytical and problem solving skills; ability to accurately resolve problem mixtures and interpret analytical data regarding various compounds
- Computer skills (including word processing and data base software applications and scientific instrument software)
- Experience with ISO9001 and ISO17025 preferred
- Ability to work in a team environment with strong communication skills
- Ability to cross train in other functions of the production facility
- Able to lift 40lbs required
