Role Summary Enterprise information and technology is in a transformative period. The explosion of data tied to the ubiquity of digital technologies and services available to consumers is changing the expectations of senior leaders, employees, customers and patients. People want access to information, from any place, on any device, at any time of day or night. These challenges require IT to significantly uplift its technology and information skillsets to meet the rapidly accelerating information and technology demands of new markets, new products and new divisions.
To address this challenge, IT must shift its’ focus from implementation to innovation on a lower base of investment. This shift will be supported by building out the IT Global Innovation Network at Singapore (GIN@S), which will serve as a catalyst for IT to work in a more agile fashion through a simplified operating model. Through focus and access to global talent, the GIN@S will rapidly close the skills gap in critical areas like cyber security, informatics and analytics, mobility, social media, and cloud computing.
To enable this GIN@S-led transformation, we need talent that is highly motivated and energised to leverage IT to deliver business value. For the Sr. Specialist – Solution Architecture role, we are looking for an individual with strong technical and communication skills, who can lead IT solution definition to meet information needs of users in various MSD business areas.
Key Responsibilities - Partner with divisional IT to understand the business need and help develop clear success criteria for solving for the need
- Actively participate/help facilitate business requirement sessions to understand the details of the business need adequately to define solution options
- Define IT solution choices and trade-offs for solving a business need and clearly identify recommendations and alternatives
- Review IT solution options and recommendations with IT stakeholders to gain alignment on path forward.
- Review IT solution options with business stakeholders and influence path forward to optimize value for MSD
- Stay current with latest technology trends in information management and experiment technologies to advance business outcomes where possible
- Stay current with MSD EIM reference architecture and come an active consumer of it by helping continuously refine to address emerging business needs.
- Work as part of platforms and competencies that support the purpose of Enterprise Information Management and influence their roadmaps to address current and emerging information management business needs of the business
- Develop a strong network of solution architects inside MSD (in divisional Its) to leverage their learnings and to influence their solution choices to help optimize MSD IT investments
- Actively engage with information management community outside of MSD to bring in best practices from the industry to help advance business outcomes
- Establish and maintain a network of external partners to leverage them for technology solution definition where needed
Extent of Travel: 10 to 15 %
Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
- Demonstrated expertise in traditional and modern warehousing technologies and at least 5 years experience in defining large and/or complex information management solutions including technologies covering application/data integration (Informatica, TIBCO, Matillion), data Warehousing (Teradata, Redshift, Snowflake), and visualization (Spotfire, Qlik Sense, Cognos).
- Metadata implementation experience using Collibra preferred.
- Working knowledge on advanced analytics (Machine Learning and Deep Learning) and implementation experience in R (RShiny) and Python preferred.
- Experience working in cloud environment (AWS, AZURE).
- Experience leveraging external technology advisory services such as Gartner and Forester to help define technology solutions for emerging business needs
- Strong communication skills to articulate and defend technology recommendations
- Aptitude, temperament and demonstrated experience in navigating large complex IT organizations to gain alignment on solution choices expeditiously
- Help solution leader define high-level timeline and effort estimates for building IT solutions to support information management needs
- Experience with health care, consulting or cross-industry exposure
- Ability to relentlessly focus on outcomes (moving the business forward)
- Strong business acumen, and willingness and ability to learn new business areas
- Willingness and ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs
- Ability to develop relationships and communicate with people at all levels of the organization (both technical and non-technical)
- Organizationally savvy, leveraging social network to escape hierarchy. Adept at managing diverse relationships across expertise, geography and culture. Ability to influence without authority
- Open and receptive to listening, and discerning pain points; Leads with ideas, evidence and creates and fosters a collaborative atmosphere
- Trusted agent, acts with integrity
- Proven experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies like waterfall, agile, etc.
