As a Draughtsman, you will utilise your technical knowledge and experience as an important member of a design team within a global engineering group. This group is responsible in delivering a range of world class leading innovative engineering designs and solutions for Wireline Systems and Wellhead Pressure Control Equipment to satisfy customers. Acting under the guidance of Lead Engineer, the Draughtsman produces drawings and solutions for hydraulic, pneumatic or electro mechanical system designs using advanced CAE tools where appropriate for the task.
An appreciation of the commercial implications of engineering decision making, exceptional understanding of engineering principles, attention to detail and problem solving skills, along with a good awareness of modern manufacturing technologies and practises, the ability to work effectively with other team members and a keen focus on delivery. You should be keen to take on fresh challenges, develop your technical and interpersonal skills as well as expand your knowledge and experience through a variety of projects.
Job Responsibilities: - Prepare and check associated engineering documents (such as drawings, technical illustrations, manuals, reports and calculations) in accordance with engineering group policy and ensure they are completed within the required timescale
- To assist in general clerical and administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the Engineering Department
- Plan and lead design small to medium sized projects as allocated by the Lead Engineer with some supervision
- Ensure designs produced are efficient and cost effective, seeking to reuse existing designs and components wherever practical
- Participate in sales contract reviews & internal design review meetings, being aware of commercial implications
- Attend and participate in client meetings, always ensuring customer care is the foremost priority
- Ensure all assigned deliverables are technically in accordance with client requirements and established contract requirements
- Prepare Technical Requisitions for any 3rd party design review or verification
- Develop and take part in test programs and factory acceptance tests to validate designs
- Ensure Engineering Change procedures are implemented thoroughly, helping to minimise disruption to the business at all times.
- Contribute to the investigation, resolution and documentation of Engineering queries including through Engineering Support functions in a timely and technically acceptable fashion
- Remain aware and involved in the latest developments within the industry and the greater engineering world to identify any potential concepts that could be incorporated into new designs
- Strive to keep network drives tidy at all times, avoid creating new folders or leaving temporary files in shared areas (5S)
- Ensure a high standard of professionalism is maintained
- Ensure accurate record keeping in relation to projects and time recording according to required schedule
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area and department including common areas
- Support other departments and business units both locally and globally and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager
Qualifications: - Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
