Functions/Duties of Position
The Sterile Processing & Inventory Supervisor is responsible for driving cross-functional efficiencies throughout the sterile processing supply chain and to identify & implement process improvement initiatives that support the organizational goals of Sterile Processing and Inventory management. The Sterile Processing & Inventory Supervisor is responsible for evaluating, developing and implementing best practice systems, tools and processes that provide the School of Dentistry with the ability to manage and improve inventory and service levels. This is to be accomplished through constant communications with key stakeholders, development of the team, goal & objective setting, standardization of departmental processes and comprehensive progress reporting.
Specifically, this position and their team will ensure that medical instrument inventories are in stock, on order, and available from the distributor and direct suppliers. This position is also responsible for ensuring proper stocking levels, space allocation and product location management while maintaining logistics high standards of customer service.
The supervisor develops reporting that provides insight on the progress and performance of (inventory levels, inventory accuracy, fill rate, stock out rate, customer satisfaction, etc.) and acts on data to identify, document, implement and monitor process improvements. This position is responsible for ensuring that communication and coordination between logistics distribution operations and other School of Dentistry departments operates effectively and efficiently, positively impacting customer service and OHSU's bottom line.
Job Requirements Required Qualifications: - Minimum of 3 years' experience as a sterile processing technician or supervisor of a sterile processing facility (within the last 5 years)
- Minimum 2 years' supervisory experience
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Inventory Management
- Working knowledge of hospital materials management distribution systems
- Must have a broad based knowledge of inventory management and sterile processing and understand how this impacts the success and performance of the organization
- Experience, creating and directing employee work flow, coaching employees, strategically identifying and developing learning opportunities, and creating a supportive team environment
- Experience working with vendors to strategically evaluate and purchase materials; working knowledge of clinical products and their use within a healthcare environment
- Must possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills, excellent communication, professionalism, and follow through; effectivly communicate program goals to all levels of staff, management, and stakeholders
- Must have the ability to use tact and diplomacy to develop and maintain effective working relationships
- Must be able to utilize Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint and Project
- Current Sterile Processing Certification from CBSPD or IAHCSMM or Certification in Healthcare leadership (CHL) and current membership in a professional organization related to Sterile Processing
- Able to manage operations from within a hospital environment, with frequent meetings throughout the OHSU campus
- Able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management or a related field
- Experience with and understanding of large ERP systems and associated interfaces
- Lean Process Improvement and other change management knowledge. Certified, Change Acceleration Process (CAP)
- AHRMM (registered), CSCP Certified, PM (registered)
