JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsibilities: - Act as a lead scientist on multiple projects or a program/platform. Determine resource, priority and direction in programs/platform to meet business needs and brand strategies
- Work cross functionally, cross departments/divisions (Regulatory, Medical, QA, Project Managers, etc) to drive the commercial launch of new product development projects (new or line-extension product, driving product innovation through incorporation of new ingredients, processing and technology)
- Implement organizational, program, or operational strategies
- Initiates ideation and innovation to develop new product concepts that are aligned with AN strategic LRP and with commercial stakeholders in the region and globally.
- Lead and drive projects to improve plant costs, product margins, quality and business excellence goals in product and process related field
- Executes programs for Supply Chain or marketing-driven scale-up initiatives; Develop commercial manufacturing processes, and capacity expansion/optimization; Coordinates with plants, third-parties, supply chain, process engineering to reflect product scale-up and flexibility
- Plan for team budgets and forecast LBE programs/platforms
- Supervise and manage reporting Scientists; Allocate team members to projects; Provide technical direction and feedback to other. Share knowledge throughout the organization and provide technical leadership within area of responsibility to supply chain, QA, commercial or other divisions; Act as subject matter expert on own areas; Provide a technical role model to others
- Identify expertise gaps of the team and plan/execute the plan to close the expertise gaps. Provide or arrange technical trainings
- Assure good documentation practice for self and team member
- Assure team members are compliant to all applicable safety, qualify, and AN policies and procedures
- Conceptualizes and proposes product/process development research projects and programs to support business needs;
- Using strong research and analytical tools to analyze results from multiple experiments/formulate conclusions/design future experiments and produce reports and other documents; Apply advanced technical writing skills to produce reports and documents; write independently and evaluate the writing of others;
- Provide top line review of experimental results to large and diverse groups both internally and externally
- Develops strategic R&D projects to support IP development and publishes research in the form of abstracts, presentations (e.g. oral) and manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals
- Engage in collaborative research with top academic and medical researchers; well connected with professional organizations and key opinion leaders; Interact with regulatory, universities, trade organizations, suppliers, government agents to gain latest update/trend on research science and technology
- Represents the Company as a product or process development expert at educational programs and scientific meetings
- Provide managers with periodic reports summarizing activities and progress within area of responsibilities
Requirements: - In-depth knowledge of food and nutrition science and technology principles and applications.
- Fluency in Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Troubleshooting and resolve/provide Technical recommendation to formulation and/or process issues
- Must have excellent communications skills with the ability to interface with management at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and synthesize scientific data.
- Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks and prioritize workload with attention to detail
- Ability to travel as necessary, consistent with project needs
- 7+ (for BS/MS) or 3+ (for PhD) years of productive, progressive and relevant experience in research, product development, food science and technology
