The Role Responsibilities
Digital Platforms creates differentiated connectivity for all client segments to access the Bank's products including Cash, Trade Finance, Security Services, and Financial Markets in over 50 markets. This role is specifically to lead the Trade Finance function within the team. The bank has embarked on an ambitious journey to revolutionize digital banking by building a truly innovative corporate banking portal that competes not just with the Financial Institutions but also with the new breed of Fintech companies.
Digital , Data & Platforms is the core team within the bank which champions this vision and is responsible to drive the digitization agenda with our corporate and institutional clients. As Trade Finance Channel Manager, you will need to 'think client' and work with global stakeholders to deliver the vision. You will work with talented team members across Product Management, Technology and client service partners, including at least one direct report, to manage and to develop your product all the way from new concept stage to product launch. You will be supported to push the boundaries by bringing in new ideas that will take the Banks' digital capabilities to the next generation of Treasurers and CFOs, and across our CIB, CB and BB segments globally.
You will have a leadership role in building innovative product capabilities, influencing internal and industry change, navigate regulatory expectations and commercialize capabilities in 50+ countries. You prefer to take responsibility for delivering ideas to implementation whether using agile methodology as a "Product Owner", or through traditional waterfall methodology. Naturally, you continuously evaluate the ever-changing financial ecosystem and emerging technologies to find the best fit for our clients and their users. You shall adopt best practices and a structured approach in discharging his/her duties, at the same time, be adept to working in a dynamic and demanding environment.
This role reports to the Director for Digital , Data & Platforms, Transaction Banking and includes responsibility for:
- The Trade Finance Channels strategy through collaboration with country & regional channels stakeholders and product experts to devise coherent vision and comprehensive plans for the business.
- Commercialise Trade Finance solutions offered on client-facing electronic channels across web, API, host-to-host, mobile and other platforms to support sales in revenue objectives, and targets in driving digital adoption.
- Drive business requirement gathering, lead, write, validate and sign-off business solution requirement for regulatory and business enhancements on Channels.
- Evaluating product relevance for each sub segment in market and enhancing it as required
- Prioritize investment portfolio and resource activities to meet strategic objectives and ensuring applicable scorecard items are delivered.
- Ensure project and project deliverables comply with Bank programme and project management policies and the highest standards of good governance are maintained. This will include reporting to senior management through formal committees ( PWC/PSC) , working with Technology, PMO and COO colleagues, and management control of these processes for Digital Platforms.
- Review solution design document to ensure the delivery fit for purpose. Sign-off functional design document. Define UAT/UVT test scenarios and sign-off
- Maintain awareness of relevant trends and developments in the market, in client feedback and requests, in technology, and in the Bank's products and services. Continuously evaluate and benchmark the bank's digital capabilities to identify and priorities opportunities to grow volumes, revenue and digital adoption
- Managing risks and regulatory issues associated with product development in digital platforms. Ensure all product compliance, and risk governance procedures is abided by always, including adherence to PPG and ORF standards.
- Review applicable internal policies and procedures to prevent gaps against risk governance framework.
- Engage actively with the product, implementation & client management, legal, compliance, operations and sales teams to create awareness of the new product features and encourage a participative attitude to elicit critical business requirements and ensure overall acceptance of the new process flows and the system functionalities.
- Launch new enhancements, including training to internal stakeholders, marketing externally and post-implementation tracking of committed benefits.
- Quantitative and qualitative analysis of product and process performance for regular and responsive management reporting.
- Take responsibility for specific areas of channel functions as global subject matter expert on behalf of the team. This may include industry engagement.
- Maintain product capabilities information up-to-date and professionally documented for both internal and external audience, ensuring the available features and services are correctly suited to clients.
Our Ideal Candidate - Minimum of 5-10 years' experience with a proven track record of success in the product management, product development or channel management part of a Trade Finance business.
- Expert understanding of the product development lifecycle using Agile methodology and relevant prior experience in drafting vision statements, epics and user stories, use cases documents, solution papers, business workflow documents and high-level design documents.
- Deep understanding of the transaction banking domain with a profound ability to conceive and design end-to-end product flows, co-create with clients / users, apply Human-Centred Design (HCD) approach, define user interface requirements, identify relevant operational processes and clearly articulate these flows and processes to the relevant business and technology workgroups.
- Adept in communicating the value of services, in championing the product range across the Bank.
- Prior knowledge and first-hand experience in user-oriented design, particularly on fast-emerging touchpoints such as mobiles and tablets as well as the conventional channels such as online.
- Comfortable discussing API's, DLT, SWIFT, authentication, data structures, recent industry trends and product solutions with clients as part of sales support or key client pitches.
- Confident in managing others with ambitions for leadership growth.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and lateral thinking skills to manage complex application functionality challenges and conflicting business demands.
- Proven inter-personal skills to actively engage with multi-cultural teams across the globe in understanding client needs, training the frontline country staff, managing client queries and feedback.
- Understanding of technology with proven ability to translate technology possibilities and solutions to business / client usage opportunities.
