This Sr. Business Analyst is accountable for gathering the Business, technical and data requirements for a project to upgrade the existing Commodity Management System (CMS) to improve trading, scheduling, and accounting operations. The progject will upgrade the CommodityXL (CXL) application and bring the underlying technology stack current with client standards. This project is underway and the Sr. BA is responsible for managing testable requirements, defining besiness processes, and producing use cases.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Works closely with a variety of Business stakeholders from multiple organizations (Commercial Operations, Business Systems) to identify, analyze and document Business requirements and related work products throughout the project life cycle. The BA requires strong organization and communication skills including the ability to facilitate Business and technical requirement meetings and reviews, keeping stakeholders focused on a common goal, and the ability to effectively document the Business and technical requirements in use case form.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Minimum 5 years of Business Analyst experience.
Proven experience collecting and managing Business needs and testable requirements throughout a project lifecycle (initiation, planning, design, development, testing and implementation).
Proven success documenting Business needs and requirements with a diverse group of stakeholders and delivering well written use cases that can be tied directly to design and test documents.
Ability to review design documentation and test cases to ensure alignment and coverage of all requirements.
Ability to collect, manage and quantify requirement change requests.
Proven experience on a complex project with a large number of impacted users, (i.e., at least 200 users).
Direct experience as a BA at a Utility, on software upgrade projects or with Energy Supply / Generation related projects, is preferred.
Knowledge of commercial operations energy trading is preferred.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/NON-ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED
Experience working within the utility industry and gas/power trading knowledge are both pluses.
