Functions/Duties of Position
This position is under the supervision of the Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. The duties of this position are in support of the missions, goals and objects of OHSU and the School of Dentistry and include:
- Participation in the clinical and didactic education of the dental students as assigned by the Curriculum Committee and the Chair.
- Participation in department activities as directed.
- Provision of dental care for patients as indicated and as assigned by the Chair.
- Participation in administrative committees and councils of the School of Dentistry and Oregon Health & Science University as approved by the Chair.
- Participation in professionally related public service activities on behalf of the department and the School of Dentistry as required.
The general pattern of working hours corresponds with scheduled clinic hours, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. Deviations from this pattern may be necessary at times.
Job Requirements Required Qualifications: - Dental degree (DDS/DMD) from a CODA accredited school
- Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry recognized by the Commission on Dental Education of the American Dental Association (CODA)
- Eligible for board certification from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry
- Eligible for licensure in Oregon
- Current license endorsement in moderate sedation
- BLS/ACLS from the American Heart Association
- PALS from the American Heart Association
- Teaching experience in a formal academic setting
- Able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Preferred Qualifications: - Membership and participation in professional societies in Pediatric Dentistry and dental research
- Demonstrated service activities such as committee participation at the school and university level
- Course director or co-directorship experience
- Demonstrated mentorship of Master's level research projects including committee chairmanship, achievement in research including awards, extra-mural funding, and publications in peer reviewed journals, and experience giving presentations at research meetings
- IRB committee participation
- Journal reviewer
- Three years of clinical and didactic teaching experience
