As a member of Division of Pediatric Intensive Care and in partnership with the Division Head of Pediatric Critical Care, this position is responsible for advancing the various missions of the organization. Due to the collaborative nature of the position, substantial input and assistance would be sought and expected from both the Division of Pediatric Cardiology and the Section of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery as well as the Vice President (VP), Women's and Children's Services (OHSU Healthcare).

Functions/Duties of Position
The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the Division Head of Pediatric Critical Care in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. This faculty position will provide clinical care primarily in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Doernbecher Children's Hospital. The majority of the clinical time will be spent caring for cardiac patients.
The ultimate job of the cardiac intensivist is to improve the outcomes of the CT program targeting top quartile performance. Primary areas of emphasis include:
- Maintaining and improving Quality and Operations of Cardiac ICU patients
- Patient morbidity and mortality
- Efficiencies including reduction of length of stay and reduction in waste throughout the program
The means to accomplish these disparate but coordinated endeavors will include but are not be limited to:
- Involvement in all aspects of post-operative care
- Involvement in pre-operative care as it impacts issues that will be faced in the PICU postoperatively
- Surveying best practices and care maps for specific lesions and bringing these to DCH in a form that performs well with our resources, culture and environment
- Acting as the patient's advocate in post-operative care issues
Job Requirements Appointee must be board eligible or board certified in Pediatrics, and must be eligible for, or currently have an unrestricted Oregon Medical License.
