Analytics Data Analyst
Description - We are seeking a talented individual to join our commercial mobility and device as a service business, for providing effective analysis of device and IT management analytics applications. You will be working closely with multi-disciplinary and cross functional teams to interpret requirements, design analytics and deliver answers required to enable the business to make decisions. As a Data Analyst on this team, you will directly shape the future of advanced analytics at HP by developing cutting edge analytic capabilities for use in the business. You will work on highly relevant opportunities, collaborating with a team of data engineers, data scientists and business analysts to create, enhance and execute high-impact advanced analytic solutions across HPersonal systems business.
You will employ advanced analytic techniques in exploration of actionable insights and development of these new capabilities. Ideal candidate will have expertise in computer science, statistical modelling, leading-edge quantitative techniques, data mining, and a strong business acumen. Ability to think out of the box as well as work in a fast paced environment is important to being successful in this role. This position is based either in Houston or San Diego, with 15% of travel time
Responsibilities Data analysis % of time
Manipulate and analyze large data sets using industry standard tools and techniques; extract quantitative and qualitative findings from large data sets
Build algorithms, tools and custom solutions for use by business analysts and forecasters
Propose, investigate, develop and refine new analytic capabilities for deployment in the business
Implement processes and analytics for increasingly smart business decision making (working in conjunction with business analysts)
Collaborate with business analysto drive understanding and insights about MS % of time
Work in partnership with MS business analyst to use or develop new algorithms and analytics to enable global customer and partner analysis and decision making
Train partner teams on use of new analytic tools and methods
Prepare and present findings of investigations to management
Thought leadership (meetings either onsite or remote) % of time
Making complex concepts simple
Breaking through deadlocks with finesse and diplomacy
Tools for insights that begin at a high-level but can drill deeper
Defining key, core views of the MS that provide the regular MS insights needed for operational and strategic decision-making
Highlighting key trends and changes affecting the business
Education MS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Advanced Analytics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Decision Sciences or similar
Knowledge and Skills 5+ yearsperience business and/or statistical analysis, with project management and operational experience Can-do, will-do attitude and passion for seeing HP customer, HP partner and internal/external teammates succeed Excellent interpersonal and project management skills; interest, passion and ability to work across virtual teams Excellent written/oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate findings to stakeholders and document project steps in detail Strong data analysis and interpretation skills Expert experience with dimensional modelling, Big Data (Hadoop/spark) solutions and ETL development Solid experience in investigative analysis and technical debugging, and strong skills/abilities to troubleshoot and identify root cause Knowledge of applied statistics, machine learning, data mining, and predictive analytics Expert-level experience in data science and visualization toolkits (R, SAS, Python, Tableau, SQL) Proven ability to sift through data, identify critical information, develop hypotheses, identify appropriate data science techniques and perform rigorous analyses to deliver new insights and solve business problems Experience applying critical thinking to analyze processes and data anomalies to diagnose data issues Ability to work individually, as well as partner with small teams of data scientists during all stages of projects, including planning and execution Ability to independently manage complex project objectives and complete multiple simultaneous project tasks with little supervision Familiarity working with large-scale datasets and big data techniques
Knowledge and Skills (preferred)
Experience with AWS ecosystem a plus
