POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Analyst of Analytics & Planning role sits within Analytics, Planning & Operations (APO). The APO team is part of HBO Technology Business Management (TBM), primarily responsible for budget planning, financial analysis, strategic procurement, vendor relations, vendor payment operations and software/hardware inventory - across all of Technology. Reporting to the Director of APO, the Senior Analyst will work closely with stakeholders across Media Technology, Production Services and Info/Content Security - primarily in the areas of budget/LTP planning, monthly reporting and financial analysis.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ANALYTICS 50%. The Senior Analyst will assume a lead role in contributing to monthly reporting and financial/strategic analysis related to major initiatives throughout HBO Technology.
- Develop monthly reporting decks for regular meetings with business leadership
- Perform business case rationalization (ROI analysis, build vs buy; variance analysis)
- Identify Technology projects that require financial and/or strategic analysis; Proactively seek out opportunities to assist business stakeholders
- Drive the planning, design and implementation of pilot initiatives.
- Develop comprehensive performance analysis of Business Operations putting in place data models and analytics that provide platform for strategic decision-making
- Identify opportunities for improvement and measure the impact
- Contribute to other projects as directed by supervisor
PLANNING 40%. The Senior Analyst will assume a lead role in the Technology budget and reporting process to ensure that APO deliverables are providing maximum value to stakeholders.
- Take a lead role in the creation of the budget, re-est and long-term plan (LTP); Ensure the presentation is logical and clear for business leadership
- Forecast quarterly and annual expense for complex categories by identifying key metrics that impact spend
- Actively participate in stakeholder meetings with the goal of understanding all major projects and initiatives planned; and the resulting budget required to fund
- Collaborate with APO colleagues to identify ways to streamline forecasting and budgeting; Implement these processes/tools into our workflows and measure results
- Own budget/project label definitions, account codes
OPERATIONS 10%. The Senior Analyst will contribute to the reporting of monthly reporting metrics and supporting payment operations as needed.
- Understand and support APO Team operational responsibilities related to strategic procurement (requisitioning, purchase order generation, invoice matching, etc.)
- Assist as needed with developing define new and improved tool, workflow and operational initiatives including performing invoice and payment reporting & processing
- Work with leadership team to implement tracking and reporting of operations metrics across the Technology business organizations.
- You will also be expected to help train and coach peers, manage ad-hoc requests
- Contribute to other projects as directed by supervisor
REQUIREMENTS - BS/BA degree required; Finance/business focus preferred.
- 3-5 years professional experience; Preferably finance and/or media related
- Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint will be required.
- Experience with financial accounting systems / tools (Oracle, SAP, etc)
- Analytically minded, logical thinker with problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information and see the big picture while effectively managing details.
- Team player and self-starter with interpersonal and solution oriented attitude and an ability to effectively operate with high energy and flexibility in a fast paced, constantly evolving team environment.
