Under the general direction of the Provost/Vice President, Academic Services, this position will provide strategic leadership and support in research, coordination, planning and implementation of new and ongoing initiatives. The Assistant to the Provost/Vice President is also responsible for preparing programmatic recommendations. Responsibilities will necessitate working with all members of the division as well as key administrators and staff in other divisions.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities
- Plans and coordinates communication with the College community on student concerns, providing leadership to identify and provide necessary professional development and informative publications to address and resolve concerns
- Assists with divisional assessment activities for the Academic Services division
- Facilitates and provides leadership in the exchange of information between the departments and divisions, as well as the various campus locations and administrative offices of the College
- Assists in creating an atmosphere of mutual respect among Faculty Senate, Academic Services, Student Services, academic departments and administration
- Serve as a College representative or liaison for public groups, community organizations, or events as assigned by the College
- Creates and maintains reports, presentations, studies, and statistical analyses for the Provost/Vice President's office
- Prepares and disseminates both internal and external communications related to the operation of the Academic Services Division
- Coordinates promoting and publicizing the activities and accomplishments of the Academic Services Division
- Coordinates the process for academic student grievances
- Coordinates, monitors, and provides general leadership concerning the Student Opinion of Course and Faculty survey process
- Plans and coordinates special events and meetings
- Serves and participates on committees and task groups related to Academic Services and other related areas in the College
- Manages cross-divisional projects for the Provost/Vice President, Academic Services
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications
- Earned master's degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution
- Minimum of three years progressive academic administrative experience
- Experience with shared governance
- Evidence of effective interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate partnerships and to work with diverse groups of faculty, students, and staff on complex issues
- Documented ability to integrate data into decision making to promote effective practice and policy
- Demonstrated leadership qualities including strong positive interpersonal skills as well as analytical skills
- Commitment to supporting an inclusive environment on campus
- Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs
- Evidence of commitment to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college
- Evidence of proficiency with technology, including a fluency with a variety of computer applications including MS Office components (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Lotus
- Commitment to continued professional growth
Preferred Qualifications
- Documented experience within an urban, comprehensive community college
- Understanding of faculty evaluation
- Experience with Banner system
- Grant writing experience
