The HR Benefits Director has overall responsibility for Comerica's retirement programs, health and welfare plans, and benefits communication for Comerica. This includes design, strategy, implementation, administration, policies, budget, expense analysis and vendor management.

Reporting Information/Location
The Benefits Director position is located at the Comerica Bank Tower at 1717 Main Street, Dallas, TX. and reports to the SVP, Director of Total Rewards. This position has 5 direct reports.
Position Responsibilities: - Design, develop, implement, communicate, administrate, and monitor all benefit programs.
- Act as an expert consultant to management in support of benefits plan designs, 401(K) plan design and administration of the pension plan.
- Monitor trends, best practices and external competitiveness and make recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of benefit programs.
- Provide analysis and information on benefit programs and strategies to executive management and the benefit committee.
- Ensure all benefit programs are compliant with applicable laws and regulations including ERISA and Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Complete all regulatory filing and notice requirements.
- Maintain the administration of long and short term disability programs including workers compensation.
- Lead the development and maintenance of an improved health promotion and wellness delivery system and ensure that wellness initiatives are incorporated into benefit plan design.
- Assess wellness programs and wellness incentives (that comply with ERISA, Internal Revenue Code and Public Health Service Act (PHSA).
- Analyze all current benefits plans to determine cost/benefit and competitiveness.
- Routinely audit our retirement and benefit programs to ensure they are being administered appropriately.
- Analyze and update severance and retirement policies and ensure consistent application across the corporation.
- Research new industry trends and benefit opportunities, e.g. legislation,.
- Manage multiple strategic vendor relationships in the design and administration of benefits programs.
Travel
- Minimal travel less than 5% is required
Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree
- 10 years Benefits experience including administration, implementation, audit, compliance, budget development, management and communication
- 8 years project management experience
- 8 years working knowledge with ERISA, DOL, Health Care Reform as it relates to Health and Welfare plans
- 8 years knowledge working with pension plans, defined contribution plans and (401k) profit sharing plans
- 8 years direct management experience
- 8 years working with HRIS and benefits administration systems
- 3 years managing an outsourced environment
- 3 years Microsoft Office Experience (Intermediate level)
