Position Summary: Advancing Justice-LA seeks a seasoned, detail-oriented, and strategic leader for Vice-President of Finance and Operations. The VP will lead finance, human resources, facilities, and information technology functions. This position requires strong technical financial skills; planning, decision-making, and supervision experience; and great interpersonal skills. This is a tremendous opportunity for an experienced executive to help optimize and strengthen the internal capacity of a well-respected, high-impact organization. The VP will report to the President and Executive Director and is a member of the Executive Management Team, which sets strategic direction for the organization. The VP oversees a current team of eight staff, with six direct reports.
Responsibilities and Duties: - Oversee financial operations including organizational budget and supervision of accounting staff.
- Lead strategic decision making as to how Advancing Justice-LA will leverage available resources to meet its strategic goals.
- Work with development team on proposal budgets and to secure resources to support and grow agency functions.
- Oversee the organization's Los Angeles building and other leased space (Santa Ana, Sacramento, Rosemead) to ensure safe, secure, and technologically viable work environment for staff, volunteers, and clients.
- Oversee human resources functions that support individual Advancing Justice-LA staff growth as well as ensure organizational sustainability, including improving systems for recruiting, hiring, training, exiting, professional development, performance evaluation, and staff benefit programs.
- Oversee information technology team and systems, to ensure that technology tools and infrastructure meet the needs of Advancing Justice-LA staff, programs, and clients.
- Assess and evaluate current operations policies and protocols and re-design to meet needs of an organization that continues to grow in size and geography.
- Work with board finance and audit committees, as well as external auditors for annual independent audit.
- Work with other key senior leadership on risk management, including legal/compliance, insurance, contracting, and internal audit.
Qualifications: - MBA, CPA and relevant undergraduate degree;
- At least seven to ten years of overall professional experience in financial and operations management experience related to and described in the ponsibilities and Dutiesction;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to manage differences in a proactive and constructive manner;
- Proven ability to work with complex financial environment, supervise accounting staff, and produce impactful financial reports;
- Knowledge of and experience with non-profit accounting and financial management systems, methods and tools;
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage complex projects and multiple, competing priorities on various timelines;
- Experience with organizational infrastructure, including key operations or processes;
- Experience with facilities and project management;
- Technical knowledge of human resources and professional development processes systems;
- Experience with technology planning and information systems implementation;
- Experience in leading and supporting organizational change efforts;
- Demonstrated leadership and skills in strategic thinking/planning, as well as ability to step in and perform administrative tasks;
- Commitment to social justice and knowledge of AANHPI communities preferred;
- Willingness and ability to work some nights, weekends and long work days, and
- California driver's license, insurance, and access to a car required.
Compensation/Benefits: Salary will be negotiated, depending on experience. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance with retirement plan. Parking Provided.
