Business Overview:
The Intermediate Holding Company (rogram structured at the U.S. level across poles of activities of BNP Paribas provides guidance, supports the analysis, impact assessment and drives adjustments of the U.S. platformperating model due to the drastic changes introduced by the Enhanced Prudential Standards (or Foreign Banking Organizations (sinalized by the Federal Reserve in February 2014, implementing Section 165 of U.S. Dodd-Frank Act.
BNPP is seeking candidates to join the Capital Planning team, which is part of the broader Capital Management team established to support the IHC Program. The team will be responsible for coordinating the end-to-end capital management process, inclusive of Capital Policy and Plan development, calculating regulatory capital and leverage ratios, conducting capital adequacy analytics, and determining appropriate capital actions & contingency planning, with the consideration of regulatory guidelines, capital policy, internal capital needs and group dividend policy. The team will work closely with other business and functional areas to promote compliance with various Fed regulations and initiatives, including the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) framework. As part of CCAR, bank holding companies are required to submit a comprehensive capital plan (April 5 of each calendar year) with three components as follows: planned capital distributions, capital adequacy under base and stress conditions (i.e. stress tests), and extensive documentation on the capital planning process.
Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible, under the guidance of the Vice President -Capital Adequacy Analytics and Planning, for:
- Performing the capital adequacy assessment and evaluate and report key capital metrics, trends and forecasts, ensuring alignment with defined IHC risk appetite.
- Calculating and analyzing the capital ratios and compare against regulatory minimums and internal goals and targets on an ongoing basis. As part of the CCAR submission, these calculations and procedures will be submitted to the FRB as part of the comprehensive capital plan requirement.
- Assisting in conducting capital benchmarking analysis to peers and documenting results.
- Assisting with the various management reporting including CPC, EMC, and the Board.
- Additional detailed responsibilities will include (but not limited to) the following:
BAU Capital Management & Reporting:
Perform regulatory capital calculations for management decision making and major strategic initiatives.
Ongoing measurement, forecasting, and reporting on capital calculations and key capital metrics to CPC and other governing bodies
Evaluation of capital adequacy by comparison actual capital ratios with the policy thresholds and regulatory minimums
Analysis of the IHC current capital position, identifying major drivers during the period and performing attribution analysis (by components of available and required capital, by IHC businesses)
Benchmark capital ratios to peers and provide comparative analytics
Calculation, monitoring, and reporting of Early Warning Indicators defined in capital policy
Assist with sensitivity analysis of key economic variables to the capital ratios
Keep abreast of regulatory developments and initiatives (FRB, FDIC, OCC, BCBS, FSB) evaluating their implication and potential impact on the IHC capital adequacy
Capital Policy:
Provide support in updating the capital policy in line with regulatory requirements, industry best practices and the companyusiness goals and risk appetite
Capital Plan Development:
Assisting the preparation of capital planning and policy related sections of the capital plan for CCAR submission
Qualifications Minimum Required Qualifications - Bachelors in accounting, finance or economics.
- 1 years of financial services industry experience
- Basic knowledge of current regulations and regulatory initiatives (i.e., Basel, CCAR, Capital Planning Rule, EPS for FBOs)
- Background in accounting and financial analysis, ability to interpret linkages between income statement and balance sheet
- Solid writing and presentation skills, ability to analyze complex financial information and synthesize into impactful presentations
- Analytical, research and problem solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to adhere to strict project and production deadlines, showing strong planning and organization skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications: - MBA/CFA preferred
- Capital markets knowledge preferred
