The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking an Assistant Regional Vice President to join our growing Personal Lines team in Wisconsin.
This is a full-time, exempt position.
Position Overview/Summary:
This position reports to a Regional Vice President, Personal Lines, and directly manages a small group of Territory Sales Managers to develop effective agency relationships, drive profitable new business, and to increase retention on current book, while securing better agency penetration. This position provides management leverage and back-up for the RVP and is a role for an emerging leader who has demonstrated successful sales and account management skills and has potential leadership skills.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Under the direction and guidance of the RVP, performs the following responsibilities:
Hires, develops, and has full responsibility for managing a group of TSMs (typically 3-6) in the territory. This includes the daily management of the production and efficiency of the TSMs.
Works with TSMs to develop territorial business plans and manages TSM achievement of those plans.
In conjunction with the RVP, develops financial plans for the region/state and owns the execution and management of those plans.
Owns the execution of all marketing programs
Collaborates with State Management on pricing and product issues and pushes for new product development ideas.
Develops internal partnerships with Underwriting, Operations and Claims to enhance agency relationships.
Owns responsibility for driving conversion of winning agents to a true agency partnership.
Owns budget management for the assigned state/territory
Key Measures of Success:
Drive effective agency partnerships and business planning to achieve production, retention, agency conversion and profit targets.
Comprehensive knowledge of PL products and services and the ability to translate this knowledge to agency partners.
Developing leadership and coaching skills to build an effective sales team.
Partner with various parts of the Hanover franchise to exploit every opportunity and solve every problem an agent/client may present.
Effective in cultivating strong business relationships, able to overcome obstacles and find common ground for pursuing business opportunities.
Position Requirements Required Skills and Experience: - 7+ years of personal lines insurance experience with demonstrated success in sales, plus strong sales management potential.
- Working knowledge of current business conditions, the competition and territory specific issues. Good business acumen.
- Excellent agency relationship experience
- Strong PL sales, underwriting, and marketing capability.
- Knowledge of CL products and market highly desirable.
- Leadership and coaching skills to develop the TSM team.
- Understands regulatory environment, policy, product, and service requirements, and agency economics.
- Effective communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Geographic mobility within and across regions.
