Job Description Summary
Reporting to the EVP of Operations, The Regional Vice President of Operationsin responsibilities are full Profit and Loss Responsibilities for Sonesta Branded full service hotels; and to maintain and drive operating department standards and strategies to support all Sonesta hotels, in order to drive profitability and efficiencies. Working with Procurement, Training and other departments, they will lead cross functional project teams to update the Sonesta Operating Standards guide that will create the foundation of brand consistency, market leadership, operating flow thru and customer preference.
Job Description - Full Profit and Loss responsibilities for a portfolio of hotels (e.g. Sonesta branded full service hotels); including proactively leading and supporting properties to deliver desired results with respect to topline revenue, profitability, employee engagement and guest experience.
- Drive and monitor both short term and long range hotel goals in conjunction with property team and Corporate Leadership Team to assist in achieving company objectives.
- Ensure brand operating and product standards are in place; and lead a cross functional work team to identify, develop and implement revised and new standards to support company objectives.
- Acts as a senior leader within the company, providing mentorship and development to General Managers and Executive Committee leaders, and helps drive Corporate policies, procedures and direction.
- Collaboratively with EVP-Operations and other Corporate leaders helps define, create, implement and maintain operating standards and brand programs that drive and achieve Sonesta operational objectives. The primary areas of focus would include Food and Beverage; Rooms Operations; Spa/Fitness; Loss Prevention/Security; and ancillary departments.
- Rooms Operating Standards and programs might include P bath amenities; R Club standards; in room technology standards; operational productivity standards; laundry costs; management staffing models; etc.
- Food and Beverage standards and programs might include od is Art and Liquid Art program standards; banquet productivity standards; In Room Dining core deliverables; bottled water and coffee standards; procurement and national food buying programs (in conjunction with Procurement); management staffing models; etc.
- Drive and support a guest-centric culture, helping raise the bar in terms of guest experience and service; with goal of improving revenues and flow thru.
- Partner with the training discipline to identify operational training needs to support best-in-class and consistent guest experience delivery; and improving operating efficiencies.
- Support and live brand culture and values at every opportunity;
- Promote the sharing of best practices in all disciplines between hotels and brands; identifying best in class operating practices and implementing them across the organization
- Have the ability to interact at all levels of the organization cluding General Managers; Corporate Senior Leadership; Ownership; and corporate support departments.
Strategy and Planning Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversight and responsibility for the following key documents for individual hotels:
- Hotel Priorities and Individual Department Priorities
- Annual Operating Budgets and Capital Budgets
- 10 Year Capital Plan
- Annual Sales and Marketing Plan
Financial Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversight and responsibility for the following key metrics and results for individual hotels:
- Manage hotel to budgeted labor and expense KPIs
- Accurate and timely financial reporting and critiques
- Meet and exceed budgeted ROIC targets
- Achieve Flow/Flex target of 50% or Theoretical Flow Thrus
- Accountable for Forecast accuracy

Additional Job Description
Qualifications: A candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support their competencies therein.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience)
- 5 plus years as a General Manager of a hotel (or equivalent)
- Multi-unit responsibilities and/or multiple GM experiences
- Prior corporate or support group experience is a plus
- Experience with both Full-Service Hotels and Limited Service Hotels would be advantageous
- Ability and willingness to travel
- Excellent organization skills
- Excellent communicator and the ability to deliver presentations in a concise, well-organized manner
- Strong P&L experience and proficient at statistical and competitive analysis
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Demonstrates knowledge of job-related processes and systems perience in both Rooms Operations and Food and Beverage Operations
