Job Description : GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The Vice President, Medical Affairs, reporting to the Chief Medical Officer Allegheny Health Network and the Hospital President, will be responsible for overseeing clinical practice in order to ensure and promote high-quality medical care. As a Physician Executive in the Allegheny Health Network, the Vice President, Medical Affairs will actively participate in and provide leadership to hospital based and network-wide committees and initiatives.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - Influences and engages physicians and clinical staff to constantly improve the quality of patient care and patient experience. This includes implementation of network process improvement systems and tools. (13%)
- Responsible for optimizing relationships between the medical staff, supervising and coordinating the activities of medical affairs and clinical quality. (13%)
- Monitors physician adherence to government health care regulations and network policies. (13%)
- Provides executive oversight of medical affairs, including credentialing, privileging and reapplication activities. (13%)
- Collaborates directly with clinicians and administrative teams to identify on-going clinical needs of the hospital. (13%)
- Provides consultation in the areas of physician leadership development and continuing medical education. (13%)
- Collaborates with Nursing, Care Management, Pharmacy and other key stakeholders to optimize efficiencies in patient care delivery and clinical management. (13%)
- Leads physician advisors in the utilization review process. (13%)
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum
- Doctorate degree
- 7-10 years prior experience as a Medical Director, Medical Staff Officer or Medical Management Leader
- MD or DO license in the State of Pennsylvania
