ROLE SUMMARY: Dollar Shave Club (DSC) is looking for a Vice President, Strategic Analysis (SA). This role will be the business partner to our Chief Product Officer and his direct/extended organization. The VP SA is a seasoned thought leader with a sharp analytical foundation who is relentlessly focused on helping the organization reach its goals in terms of revenue and customer growth through actionable and commercially guided data analysis and insights. The VP SA enables decision making on key digital product/business strategic initiatives and provides visibility into performance tracking.
The VP Strategic Analysis oversees the Customer Growth & Customer Monetization Strategic Analysis teams that partner with the VP Customer Acquisition and VP Customer Strategy, respectively. Also, as part of the finance leadership team, the VP SA works with VP FP&A/CFO to guide strategic planning processes such as planning and forecasting.
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Business partner to CPO and their organization. Helps guide decision making on strategic initiatives and enable the organization reach its growth goals. Brings thought leadership to complex business challenges through data analysis & insights. Ensures team priorities are in sync with those of the business and provides guidance on analytical frameworks or methodologies
- Team Leader and Management. Leads the Customer Growth and Customer Monetization Strategic analysis teams that partner with the VP Customer Acquisition and VP Customer Strategy. Scope includes:
- Hiring & retaining A-level players. Motivate a team comprised of two senior managers (Director level) and several highly skilled analysts. Flex management style to balance between independence and tactical guidance as needed.
- Develop a performance-oriented management philosophy that rewards personal/team outcomes that align with business priorities. Provide timely feedback.
- Foster professional growth: Assess skills & help build technical, interpersonal and managerial skills needed to perform in the role.
- Be a great mentor and coach. Develop career development plans that enable growth 1-2 levels into the future. Coach team members on competencies & skills needed for growth.
- Fostering good working relationships both within their team and across the business
- Technology and Data
- Develop and sponsor a technology-driven agenda to enable faster/better/self-serve reporting and data access. Partners with CFO/VP Info Systems/CTO to assess needs and strategic options
- Works closely with DSCata Squads Teams to enable a seamless framework and process to access data for analysis or ongoing reporting
- Communicate the state of the business to senior audiences in the organization with a strategic lens vs a reporting one. Presentations are substantial, tailored to the audience, impactful and professional
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree in quantitative or business field
- 13+ years of total relevant business experience in business/marketing analytics related field. Or 5-6 years of post MBA experience in relevant field
- Min 8-10yrs business experience in digital marketing analytics function, with last 3-5 years operating at VP level responsibilities
- Prior experience interacting with robust financial excel models, large data sets and SQL. Experienced user of web analytics software such as Adobe (ie previously Omniture) or similar
- Proven and experienced business partner with a strong desire to lead a decision support function that goes beyond process and reporting
- Relentlessly focused on value creation and opportunity identification
- Has a track record of driving analysis that lead to actionable insights that lead to higher value (ie. revenue or customer experience)
- Has a sharp analytical foundation but at the same time has a commercially oriented mindset in order to be able to be a trusted thought partner
- Track record of successfully managing teams of senior managers (Sr. Manager or Director) and high caliber business/finance analysts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills a must
