AMETEK is looking for a strong Divisional Vice President and Business Manager to lead the Midwest Region Business Unit. This position will be responsible for overall profit and loss for the entire Midwest region. The Business Manager will provide tactical and strategic guidance and be responsible for developing and implementing the Business Unit's Strategic Plan with an emphasis on AMETEK's four-pronged growth strategy promoting continuous improvement, new product development, global and market expansion, and mergers and acquisitions. The AMETEK Midwest Business Unit encompass three separate businesses. Southern Aeroparts (SAI) and Drake Air in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and B&S Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas.
SAI provides a broad range of maintenance, repair and overhaul services for commercial aircraft components. These services include electromechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic capabilities for all types of electric motors, cargo drives and actuators; fan reverser, flight control and landing gear actuation components; and pneumatic motors and valves. Additionally, SAI maintains a repair rather than replace mentality. Utilizing our full, in-house engineering and manufacturing capabilities and upon customer acceptance, SAI uses FAA/PMA approved parts and DER repairs. This approach allows SAI to continuously provide the cost-effective repairs to our customer base.
Drake Air is a leading FAA/EASA/CAAC approved repair station specializing in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of Heat Transfer Components (Heat Exchangers, Pre Coolers, Oil Coolers, Fuel Heaters and Accessory items) for all types of commercial, regional, general aviation, military and rotor wing aircraft. Innovation has been a cornerstone to Drake Air's success, as best reflected in our core replacement program called Nu-Matrixith Nu-Matrix the old core matrix is replaced using an FAA approved process, restoring the unit back to zero time and in full compliance with the Original Equipment Manufacturers specifications. Position Requirements: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Responsible for all sales, marketing, engineering, customer service, aftermarket, operations, supply chain/materials, quality, finance, acquisition, environment, health and safety, forecasting and strategic planning activities.
- Overall profit and loss responsibility for the Tulsa MRO businesses which includes 2 separate P&L's, along with our Wichita, Kansas business.
- Responsible for operating performance, e.g. sales, profit, working capital, on-time delivery, planning, scheduling, materials management, etc.
- Improve the product development process by effective market analysis, target product identification, improving project management and incorporating design for six sigma
- Manage day-to-day tactical and long-term strategic activities within the business
- Recruitment, training and development, and performance management of direct reports
- Responsible for effective communications and coordination with other Division Vice Presidents in both North America and European businesses
- Improve factory performance by executing lean manufacturing initiatives such as Kanban, SIOP, 5S, and Kaizen while maintaining focus on Quality improvements.
- Responsible for meeting financial commitments, providing the resources necessary to grow and/or taking the necessary actions to cut costs.
EDUCATION - Bachelors Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline is required
- Master's Degree or MBA strongly preferred

- Minimum 10 years progressive management experience; minimum 5 years in a senior level role with direct P&L responsibility

- 3rd party MRO experience strongly desired

- Candidates must have proven strategic planning skills; conducted competitive analyses, developed marketing plans, pricing strategies, etc.
- Strong customer relations skills
- It's imperative that candidates have a strong financial acumen and have worked for a publicly traded company continuously pressured to lower costs while improving performance
- Broad experience in the direct implementation and management of lean and visual management tools and systems in both manufacturing and transactional environments
- Effective strategic leadership skills and executive attributes
- Excellent organization and project management skills
- Strong statistical analysis ability
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
- Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet critical deadlines

- A solid track record of success leading engineering and operations
- Familiarity with the manufacturing of low volume, high mix [engineered] products.
