Vice President, Controller & Treasurer
First Equity Mortgage, the mortgage banking subsidiary of Drees Homes, has an opening for the position of Vice President, Controller & Treasurer.
This critical position works closely with the President on the development and execution of a strategic plan that delivers wonderful customer and employee satisfaction, a good return for shareholders, and regulatory compliance.
The Vice President, Controller & Treasurer will take on a highly visible and strategic role as part of First Equity Mortgagexecutive team. Responsible for directing and overseeing the fiscal functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and in accordance with techniques, practices, and regulations in the mortgage banking industry. We are looking for someone to add objectivity and creativity to the analytics and help the organization further understand drivers of revenue, expense, and profitability, and to help improve all of them. The ideal candidate possesses excellent leadership skills and is a mortgage professional with a strong understanding of industry financial and operational best practices.
Job Requirements: Education - Accounting, Finance or Economics degree required
- CPA and MBA preferred
- Licensing with NMLS is a plus
Knowledge and Skill
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles
- Strong knowledge of mortgage regulations and regulatory compliance
- Ability to build trust and drive team effectiveness
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
- Coordinate and manage the external audit
- Treasury and risk management
- Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and analytics
- A commitment to excellence and integrity
- Desire to innovate and implement systems to ensure operational efficiency
- Knowledge of Encompass by Ellie Mae or similar program is preferred
Experience - Eight to ten years of financial management experience in the mortgage industry
