Title: Vice President Operations

Position Summary:

To support the DRS Airborne & Intelligence Systems (AIS) Vision to be a trusted parter for defense and intelligence solutions, DRS Airborne and Intelligence Systems is seeking a VP of Operations to oversee the Operations Department. In order to create a remarkable customer experience, the ideal candidate will bring a natural aptitude for leading and empowering team members, fostering innovative thought, developing a culture of continuous improvement, and executing process discipline. This candidate will be expected to oversee a budget of $85M and manage a team of 160 people. The ideal candidate will have a background in one or more of the following areas:

• Proven record implementing continuous improvement initiatives that return profit to bottom line
• Defense manufacturing managing a complex supply chain in low volume high mix environment
• Demonstrated program financial management and project budgeting skills
• Utilizing current systems and technology
• Overseeing multi-site MRP systems
• Structured training programs and associated metrics

The VP of Operations is a critical member of the executive staff and reports directly to the Vice President & General Manager. This individual will oversee day-to-day activities that support the overall growth and success of the business. In order to deliver quality systems that are consistent with cost and schedule targets, this individual will actively collaborate with Business Development, Program Management, Contracts, Engineering, Finance and Quality Assurance Departments. On a day-to-day basis the Operations Department is responsible for the entire product realization value stream from planning and procurement, through supply chain, to final integration, assembly, and test. The Operations Department maintains all facilities, including Environmental Health and Safety. These facilities include two production facilities in Fort Walton Beach FL and Germantown MD where final integration, assembly, and testing is conducted and support facilities (largely Engineering & Program Management) in Dayton OH and Melbourne FL.

Primary & Essential Accountabilities:

1. Recruit, develop, mentor and retain top performing team. The VP of Operations currently has responsibility for 6 direct reports and a department of approximately 160 team members.

2. Create a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within an ISO/AS compliant business system

3. Collaborate:

+ with the executive leadership team on development and execution of the strategic plan

+ with customers and our valued suppliers to ensure team commitment for common goals

+ with stake holder department(s) to deliver products & services and achieve quality and cost objectives

4. Be results driven to ensure goals are achieved in support of business financial performance

5. Be a thought leader in the optimization of the Deltek Enterprise Resource Planning system and associated tools to automate and optimize the operationalue stream

6. Environmental Health and Safety compliance

7. Employment of a robust Business Metrics program to support continuous improvement

Basic Qualifications:

• 20 years of experience
• Bacheloregree in related discipline required. Masteregree desired
• Demonstrated performance using continuous improvement (lean, six sigma, etc) approaches to improve quality, working capital, lead times, etc.
• Proven track record in a low volume, high product mix setting
• Demonstrated performance leading supply chain and material planning organizations within a Manufacturing Resource Planning system envrionment
• Demonstrated leadership across multiple sites (home based at company headquarters in Fort Walton Beach, FL)
• Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
• Excellent technical skills with automated systems that can reduce manual functions in operations
• Ability to obtain U.S. Government Security Clearance
