We are searching for a Vice President to lead the AML Operations Team for American Express, FSB (nd American Express Centurion Bank (BThis position reports to the BanksA/AML Officer, who is responsible for the execution of the BanksA/ AML Program.
Responsibilities include: - Help oversee an effective BSA/AML Program that complies with industry best practices, regulatory guidance and requirements, and internal policies and procedures;
- Ensure the Program maintains proper Customer Due Diligence processes;
- Assist the BSA/AML Officer with updates and revisions to AML policies and procedures;
- Assist with the administration of the BSA/AML related training programs for employees, management and directors;
- Prepare reporting for the BSA/AML Officer regarding AML metrics and trends for various committees;
- Collaborate on the periodic Money Laundering and Sanctions Risk Assessments;
- Collaborate with Global Sanctions to ensure the AML Operations team has appropriate procedures in place;
- Collaborate with the Enterprise Financial Intelligence Unit, an affiliate of the Banks, which monitors customer transactions and files suspicious activity reports;
- Assist the Exam Management team with responses to regulatory exam requests;
- Project management related to regulatory and internal audit action items;
- Thought leadership and due diligence regarding new products;
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the BanksL Operations Team.
The AML Operations Team is responsible for:
- Politically Exposed Persons Enhanced Due Diligence Review
- Wire Escalations
- Sanctions Screening
- Credit Balance Refund approvals
- KYC escalations
This position can be based out of Salt Lake City or Phoenix. Salt Lake City is strongly preferred.
Qualifications - Minimum of 8 years work experience in BSA/AML compliance is required;
- Bacheloregree required, advanced degrees a plus;
- Experience at a large financial institution, regulator, or law firm performing legal, regulatory supervision, exam management or regulatory enforcement functions;
- Skilled leader who can build consensus with other teams; develop and motivate direct reports;
- Strategic thinker with excellent attention to detail and deadlines; clear communicator in both verbal and written forms;
- Ability to balance competing priorities and can delegate appropriately;
- Ability to escalate issues and can offer thoughtful solutions to complicated matters.
