The Vice-President of Operations is responsible for assisting the Division President with meeting or exceeding the yearly profit objectives for the Division. The Vice-President of Operations will be required to travel to the hospitals he or she oversees. Typical travel time on average is Tuesday through Thursday of each week.
Actions which contribute to the accomplishment of the deliverable:
Business Development
- Assists the hospital CEOith translating annual revenue and profit goals into specific plans that will achieve desired goals
- Assists the hospital CEOn developing a strategy for increasing volume by targeting specific physicians on the medical staff as well as assessing needs for new physicians
- Monitors progress of the hospital CEOo assure desired progress in achieving specific goals
- Assist the Division President with acquisitions by site visits, presentations and due diligence. Assists in a smooth transition
Cost Containment
- Assists the hospital CEOith achieving a balance between revenue and expenses
- Periodically reviews the hospitalinancial position and advises corrective action if needed
Physician Relationship Building
- Assists the hospital CEOith strategies for building stronger relationships with the medical staff
- Provides suggestions on how to approach difficult problems with individual physicians
- Assists the CEOith identifying new services/product lines as well as capital expenditures
Coaches and Develops
- Work with individual CEOo review performance, strengths and weaknesses and provide counsel on improvement
- Shares best practices from experiences both internally and externally gests additional training/skills/knowledge that will assist the CEOn career growth
- Assists the Division President with the selection and hiring of CEOnd CEO Bench strength: COOs, Assistant CEOs, and MHA/MBA Graduates
- Serves as interim CEO as needed in order to assess the needs of the facility and to allow time to recruit a permanent replacement.
Qualifications Required Education/Experience:
- Eight to ten years or more of demonstrated successful leadership as a hospital CEO. Large hospital CEO experience in a competitive market preferred.
- Detailed knowledge of how to successfully build revenue and an understanding of physician practices
- Basic knowledge of hospital financial systems and controls
- Ability to coach and develop employees in order to prepare them for larger rolls in the organization
- Ability to select employees for the organization that have the capability to succeed
- Demonstrated business acumen
- Ability to problem solve, identify real issues and formulate solutions and to teach others as well
