Job Title : Assistant Vice President, Research Manager - GSO
Job Description : The research role at GSO requires an outgoing, meticulous self-starter who works independently but answers to all areas of the business in a very fast-paced, demanding environment. The researcher fields questions on an ongoing basis via e-mail, in person and phone, prioritizes those requests and turns around most research requests on the same day.
The research role involves constant interaction with investment professionals of all GSO funds (from analyst level through SMD) to support investment decisions. The role requires regular calls and meetings with market data vendors, and includes service to all other areas of the firm, such as legal, marketing, senior management and finance.

On demand company and industry research, using resources, including but not limited to:

· Industry market research

· Subscription-based market research databases, such as:
· Wood-Mackenzie (energy and metals and mining)

· Interact with credit research analysts and strategists at broker-dealers in order to obtain custom data and reports

Key Responsibilities Include: - Maintaining relationships with vendors for ad hoc market data purchases and future needs of the firm
- Making assessments and suggestions to various teams about resources
- Arranging subscription trials with vendors
- Interacting with department heads to determine individual needs and budgets for various subscriptions, and partnering with Blackstonearket data team on subscription additions and renewals
- Maintaining awareness of industry specific resources (example: IHS, ICIS, SNL, Nielsen, RISI, CRU, Platt/li>
- Anticipating information needs of investment professionals and group heads to proactively and selectively push data and research
- Staying aware of individual and group areas of focus in order to push reports and ideas for resources
- Assessing macro data and commentary that will be of use and distribute accordingly to senior management
Qualifications : · 5-10 years of industry and company research experience, with at least 2 years spent in financial services
· Experience with the following databases is preferred: Factiva, Capital IQ, Thomson One (or comparable deals database)
· Advanced degree in Library and Information Science preferred
· Vendor management experience preferred
