Job Description This position performs a variety of leadership and administrative duties within the Student Affairs Division that advance the collegetudent success, retention and engagement goals by serving our diverse communities through engagement, collaboration, partnerships, and innovation. This individual also provides leadership to a student-centered team inclusive of, but not limited to the following areas: Academic Advising, Transfer & Career Services, The Center for Access & Equality & the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF), The Southern Education Center (SEC), Student Life, Student Conduct & Program Compliance, CARE Team and Counseling & Student Development Services. This position also oversees the student conduct process, the behavioral intervention team and coordination of the delivery of prevention programming in compliance with the DSFCA, the Clery Act, VAWA and Title IX. The primary goals of this position are to enhance student support, promote exemplary student conduct, foster academic success and retention, encourage co-curricular involvement and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
List of Essential Activities
1. Provides leadership and oversight for designated departments, units, satellite locations, staff, teams, committees, services, and programs within or related to the Division; also directs SEC staff and activities with the goal of further development, implementation and assessment of all functional areas of the Center in an effort to expand community services.
2. Develops and promotes strategies and programs designed to positively impact student success, retention and completion; expands and further develops frameworks to enhance student support and increase retention.
3. Works collaboratively across the college to create a culture of student engagement and success and a student experience focused on a college culture that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion; ensures student needs are recognized and addressed through collaboration among students, departments, and faculty.
4. Creates an environment that strives to ensure a fair and objective process that upholds the high behavioral standards expected in the Collegetudent Code of Conduct; serves as the divisioneader for the student conduct process, evaluates all recommendations regarding student responsibility for conduct violations; assigns and ensures student compliance with sanctions.
5. Serves as an advocate for student/parent concerns and issues.
6. Provides leadership and direction in creating and maintaining a supportive campus through services, programs, and innovative learning experiences within and beyond the classroom, including all required elements of ongoing prevention campaigns related to all current state and federal laws applicable to higher education.
7. Makes hiring recommendations, develops and manages staff, nurtures future leaders, communicates, sets clear expectations, and holds staff accountable.
8. Plans and oversees the Student Services budgets.
9. Serves on the President's Leadership Team and participates in the development and implementation of college-wide policies, procedures, guidelines, and campus initiatives.
10. Related duties, initiatives and projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications 1. Master's Degree in Higher Education Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, Student Development, or other related discipline.
2. Ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience working in higher education, five years of which were in a Director or higher level position within Student Services requiring strategic leadership capabilities, a thorough knowledge of student development theory, Title IX and other higher education state and federal laws.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a proven track record of multi-tasking and meeting established deadlines, and a demonstrated commitment to the role and mission of the college.
4. Five years of prior supervisory experience that included accountability for department, unit, function or team results.
5. Five years of experience working with recent Microsoft Office Suite and a relational database that involved the preparation of detailed reports, charts, surveys, and presentations and also required competence in the use of student affairs research and assessment tools and the ability to identify new technology that may improve department operations.
Preferred Qualifications 1. Doctorate Degree.
2. Experience working in student services in a community college.
3. Documented success in working collaboratively on major change initiatives.
4. Experience leading a CARE Team (Behavioral Intervention Team) in a collegiate environment.
5. Experience working in campus judicial services or student conduct services.
