Responsibilities Position Overview
The Vice President, Business Affairs, NBC International Studios, is a U.S. and global television business expert that will represent the studio in its negotiations with third party providers and talent representatives for a variety of programming. This individual will advise and assist our international business and legal counterparts in developing, producing and exploiting global content. In addition, the individual will be responsible for coordinating with various departments in connection with legal, finance and intercompany issues.
The ideal candidate will be a confident expert in U.S. television business matters that actively pursues creative business solutions to complex international matters.
Responsibilities - Negotiate script development, talent hold, first look and rights agreements for scripted pilot/series, mow's and mini-series, and provide expert U.S. market insight for our international partners.
- Negotiate U.S. above-the-line talent to render services for international and global productions. writer, producer, director, performer, talent hold, first look and rights agreements
- Handle the day-to-day business affairs issues for scripted pilots, current scripted programming, including managing talent, legal and financial issues.
- Interface and coordinate with the following departments: creative, legal, finance, production
- Resolve intercompany issues with our various joint ventures and affiliated studios, and work closely with business & legal affairs units for affiliated companies such as Carnival, Lark, WTTV, Matchbox, etc.
- Review budgets and other financial data associated with the development and production of aforesaid programming
- Draft short-form deal memos, reviewing agreements for accuracy of terms negotiated and coordinating the processing of invoices based on required contractual obligations.

International Studios has a first look deal with Hardy Son & Baker (led by Tom Hardy, an international film actor, and his producing partner, Dean Baker) and owns Tellycopter, a research and development resource that sits alongside its production companies.
Outside the UK, NBCUniversal International Studios owns Australia-based Matchbox Pictures, producers of critically-acclaimed drama series The Slap, and co-owns LARK Productions in Canada, producer of long-running procedural Motive and Real Housewives of Vancouver.
International Studios also operates NBCUniversal Formats - a global format sales team which represents the international rights to a broad slate of programming, including reality, lifestyle, entertainment and scripted shows produced by NBC, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, Style, Syfy, G4, Carnival, Chocolate, LARK, Lucky Giant, Matchbox, and Monkey Kingdom.

Desired Characteristics * Prior experience negotiating script development agreement, pilot/license agreements, digital rights agreements, talent agreements and rights deals for scripted programming and specials
- The ability to review and digest complex business matters for intercompany use.
- Strong and effective negotiating skills and excellent drafting skills
- Working knowledge of the SAG, WGA and DGA basic agreements and the AFTRA Code.
