Job Description Position Summary
The Vice President of Business Development, Stanley Engineered Fastening will develop and execute an inorganic growth strategy for Stanley Engineered Fastening, to expand the business from $1.5B to $3-4B revenue by 2022.
Critical Responsibilities
- Develop and leverage a deep understand of the fastening industry and other highly engineered, applications based business models, trends and competitive landscape
- Develop a prioritized list of companies that are a strategic fit for Stanley Engineered Fastening, evaluating core markets plus adjacency options to expand across product categories
- Establish and maintain relationships directly through banking partners with each target
- Execute due diligence, serving as project leader and point of contact between target, Corporate Business Development and Stanley Engineered Fastening leaders
- Synthesize key learning from due diligence, business model and relationships to develop valuation and negotiation strategy; serve as critical player in negotiation and close process
- Establish and track integration Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), monitor progress to planned value creation and capture lessons learned from each transaction
Essential Skills and Experiences
- Experience with valuation techniques and developing and executing organic growth strategy, ideally in B2B or industrial markets
- Exceptional collaboration skills; ability to establish productive, broad relationships and networks internally and externally
- Externally focused, demonstrated intellectual curiosity, understands disruption and new economy dynamics
- Strong financial acumen; financial modelling capability is ideal, able to create compelling business cases linked to financial data
- Executive presence; establishes credibility, able to challenge and play devils advocate as required; develops and articulates personal opinions with conviction
- Politically savvy, adept at being face of SEF, shared right level of information, builds a compelling narrative, holds back when required
- Strategic thinker, understands variety of business models and how each exploits advantage, clear understanding of leverage and value creation
- Prioritization skills, understands that deciding where NOT to compete and what NOT to work on is as valuable as developing focus areas
- Energized by extended travel, exploratory conversations and working with a blank slate
