JPMorgan Chase is seeking talented candidates for a Compliance Manager position within the Wealth Management (WM) Compliance Department to execute and maintain a robust compliance monitoring plan over Bank Discretionary Investment Management (DIM) programs offered around the globe. The monitoring will cover key areas of regulatory and business focus, including fiduciary risk, suitability, operations, conflicts of interest, trusts and estates, and marketing providing ongoing independent compliance oversight.
The position requires a person who is enthusiastic, confident and has practical experience in performing monitoring/testing activities, including data analysis and management reporting or equivalent experience. The successful candidate might have a background as an Auditor, Accountant, Quality Assurance or Surveillance Analyst, Regulatory Examiner or Big 4 experience. Previous operational and regulatory knowledge and experience in areas related to DIM and 12 CFR 9 fiduciary rules (. 9ould be preferable. A strong knowledge of product categories in which DIM programs are invested, including mutual funds, SMAs, ETFs, hedge funds, private equity, structured products, and portfolio performance reporting is also critically important to the role.
Candidates will be expected to strategically partner with the business to ensure that key controls related to significant DIM risks are performing effectively, and where not, that appropriate action plans are developed and completed. Candidates will be expected to periodically identify changes that must be made to the monitoring plan based on changes in the business, regulatory influences, and long-term monitoring results.
The position will report to the Lead of Bank Managed Discretionary Investments Compliance, who reports to the Head of Wealth Management Bank Fiduciary Compliance.
Key Responsibilities Include: Design and execute ongoing monitoring reviews in accordance with the Firm's procedures to provide ongoing independent assessment of compliance with applicable rules and regulations, and internal procedures and controls;
Prepare clear and organized monitoring work papers to document and support work performed and conclusions reached;
Work with line of business to ensure appropriate escalation and closure of exceptions/observations and any key trends and symptoms;
Organize and prepare management information relating to monitoring plan status, key trends and symptoms identified by the monitoring;
Work to enhance the visibility of the monitoring program and establish key relationships within compliance and the business.
Proactively keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory concerns and business changes to identify areas for monitoring enhancements;
Coordinate with other compliance and business partners globally to ensure a consistent approach where appropriate; and
Assist in ad hoc projects as necessary.
Qualifications: Financial services experience, preferably in Internal Audit, Monitoring/Testing, Surveillance, Regulatory Examinations or Big 4 Audit experience;
A bachelor's degree, required;
Understanding of risk and control frameworks;
Ability to work independently with good time management skills and pro-active attitude towards accomplishing tasks;
Ability to work in a team environment and assist with reviews, projects and/or team initiatives;
Strong organizational skills and willing to take ownership and responsibility of tasks;
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision;
Strong influencing, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; and ability to liaise with all levels of management;
Strong knowledge of DIM products and services, and related policies, procedures and control processes;
Understanding of regulatory requirements and operations supporting investment advisers with a particular focus on OCC banking regulations of advisor functions and 12 CFR 9 fiduciary rules;
Proven track record in building good working relationships;
Pro-active, motivated and enthusiastic; and
Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
